  • Patent number: 10257957
Abstract: Cooling systems employing adjacent fan cages having cage walls with interflow passages are disclosed. A cooling system includes cooling fans disposed in adjacent fan cages. Cage walls of the fan cages direct flows from the fans to the outlet ports of the fan cages which are in fluid communication with electrical components within an electronics-containing enclosure. By forming an interflow passage between the adjacent fan cages, upon occurrence of an inoperable fan, a portion of the flow from an adjacent operable fan can pass to the outlet port of the fan cage of the inoperable fan via the passage and provide better cooling of the components impacted by the inoperable fan. In this manner, thermal damage is avoided while minimizing fan noise associated with higher fan speeds.

  • Patent number: 10166840
Abstract: An air distribution system for the distribution of air to a rear portion of a vehicle includes a housing extending between a first and second end. The housing defines a plurality of first direct air outlets disposed adjacent the first end, a plurality of second direct air outlets disposed adjacent the second end, and a plurality of indirect air outlets disposed between the first and second direct air outlets. An airflow control assembly is configured to interchange airflow of the air distribution system between a first mode in which airflow is open through the direct air outlets but blocked from the indirect air outlets for guiding air directly to occupants situated in the rear portion of the vehicle and a second mode in which airflow is restricted through the direct air outlets and open through the indirect air outlets to create a bloom of air over the rear vehicle occupants.

  • Patent number: 10079480
Abstract: An arc resistant air vent for a switch gear cabinet comprises a plenum stacked with spaced corrugated plates, the plates being perforated by slots at the corrugation turning points. Air and water can enter through a front grille of the vent. Air is allowed to pass through to the cabinet while water entering the vent is returned through the perforations to a bottom wall of the plenum which drains at the grille. The plates are held in frangible connections to the side walls of the plenum and the slots produce an accordion hinge to allow a release and a folding of the plates together under the pressure of an arc blast in the switchgear cabinet to seal the grille.
