  • Patent number: 10625449
Abstract: Provided is a plastic injection-molding method for producing a poly-V belt pulley, which has an outer ring, an inner ring, and a ring web, which connects the outer ring to the inner ring and has a plurality of radially oriented ribs. The injection molding occurs in a circular-ring-shaped injection-molding cavity, a poly-V-ribbed inner shell of which is formed by a plurality of radially movable slides and which is vented during the injection molding by the gaps between the slides adjacent to each other. The rib contour in the injection-molding cavity are designed in such a way that the plurality of ribs is formed of a first group of thin ribs and a second group of thick ribs and that the gaps extend in radial extension of the thin ribs, the width of which is significantly less than the width of the thick ribs, which extend circumferentially between the gaps.

  • Patent number: 10550988
Abstract: A CIPP liner reel system for managing the utilization and deployment of CIPP liners. The CIPP liner reel system generally includes a frame connected to a reel and drive unit. The drive unit is connected to the reel to control the rotation of its core. This core contains an opening that provides access to a connector unit within the core. This connector unit can be used to connect the reel to the end of a CIPP liner using a strap. Rotation of the core causes CIPP liner to wind on to or unwind from the reel. The reel may also contain a left guide member and a right guide member to assist in controlling the process of winding and unwinding the CIPP liner. The frame may also include a tractor connector that enables the CIPP liner reel system to be coupled to and transported by a tractor without affecting its operation.

  • Patent number: 10406728
Abstract: A shim for a compression mold for manufacturing a component from reinforced plastic, typically from SMC, comprising a fixed molding element, a mobile molding element, and a mobile shim that can be moved by an actuator. The mobile shim comprises a conventional part made of steel but also a part made of a high expansion material with a mean coefficient of expansion that is high enough that its own expansion at the molding temperature places the shim in compression against the molding element and seals against this element, thus eliminating flash on the molded part. This material is advantageously a polyetheretherketone, or PEEK. A mold comprising this shim and a compression molding method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10350877
Abstract: A 3D object (the “New Object”) is fabricated layer by layer by 3D printing. The shape and relative dimensions of the various parts of the New Object match that of another 3D object (the “Target Object”). In addition, the exterior of the New Object appears to be a photographic likeness of the Target Object. The “photographic” likeness is created by variations in visual characteristics of materials in the layers comprising the New Object, and in particular by variations at or near the surface of the New Object. Thus, the photographic likeness is an integral part of these layers comprising the New Object. An object is scanned, from which a texture map is obtained. A CAD model is sliced into slices (bit maps files) which are then colored by a program with the boundary to match the color or gray scale to color the appropriate pixels, derived from the texture map.

  • Patent number: 10350834
Abstract: A desired whole slice image corresponding to a whole object is created in a slice image creation device, in which a synthesis processor overlaps a target slice image created by a target slice image creation processor and a support slice image created by a support slice image creation processor. The synthesis processor determines a portion of the overlap region corresponding to a target printing region of the target slice image and/or a support printing region of the support slice image as a whole printing region to be printed, and determines a portion of the overlap region corresponding to both of a target non-printing region of the target slice image and a support non-printing region of the support slice image as a whole non-printing region not to be printed. The synthesis processor colors the whole printing region and the whole non-printing region with different colors to create the whole slice image.

  • Patent number: 10343237
Abstract: Laser processing of hard dielectric materials may include cutting a part from a hard dielectric material using a continuous wave laser operating in a quasi-continuous wave (QCW) mode to emit consecutive laser light pulses in a wavelength range of about 1060 nm to 1070 nm. Cutting using a QCW laser may be performed with a lower duty cycle (e.g., between about 1% and 15%) and in an inert gas atmosphere such as nitrogen, argon or helium. Laser processing of hard dielectric materials may further include post-cut processing the cut edges of the part cut from the dielectric material, for example, by beveling and/or polishing the edges to reduce edge defects. The post-cut processing may be performed using a laser beam with different laser parameters than the beam used for cutting, for example, by using a shorter wavelength (e.g., 193 nm excimer laser) and/or a shorter pulse width (e.g., picosecond laser).

  • Patent number: 10322532
Abstract: Molded rubber objects may be molded and de-molded by defining both a desired final form for the molded rubber object and a tab extending from the final form of the molded rubber object using a cavity in a mold. Rubber pellets may be dispensed in predetermined amounts at desired location(s) within the cavity to provide the rubber needed to form the molded rubber object. Heat and pressure may be applied to the mold to cause the rubber pellets to fill the cavity defining both the desired final form of the molded rubber object and the tab. After the heat and pressure has been applied, a gripping device may grasp the tab and move the tab in a direction and with sufficient force to peel the rubber object from the mold cavity. If desired, the tab may be removed from the molded rubber object.
