Abstract: The boundary layer drum mixer is an apparatus which can pass through the narrow top port of a standard chemical drum or bulk container without the need to disassemble any part of the mixer or the vessel. The invention is an enclosed system with an internal arrangement of impellers and stators which draw liquid-based media from the adjacent vessel and strategically distributes it throughout the vessel through an array of outlet ports. The strategic mixing requires low energy input, minimizes the risk of media aeration and works with a wide range of fluid levels. The apparatus imparts no net external torque, and therefore, requires no rigid mounting. The upper impeller flow positively entrains particles or liquid phases that tend to float. The lower impeller flow positively entrains particles or liquid phases that tend to sink and/or remain static in boundary layers against or near the vessel walls and base.

Abstract: An angle-adjustable, gravity flow ink refill and pen, each comprising of at least one bendable portion along its length. The bendable portion acts as a concertina-type hinge to allow both the pen and refill to bend to an angle and maintain the bend imparted to it. In a preferred embodiment, the refill is flexible in structure (full or partial) and the pen having a crimped corrugated bendable portion. In an alternate embodiment, intertwined helical wires form the bendable portion for the pen, the refill or both to maintain the angle bent. Alternatively a flexible gooseneck tube is used for the bendable portion of the pen. The pen writes normally on flat surfaces and on inclined surfaces, the rear end of the pen is bent forward such that the rear is pointed upwards towards the sky. This allows ink to flow towards the tip via gravity and facilitate consistent delivery of ink at multiple writing angles.
Abstract: An example fire extinguishing apparatus may include a housing comprising at least one escape hole, a first compartment within the housing containing a first extinguishant agent, and a second compartment within the housing containing a second extinguishant agent. The first compartment may be rotatable relative to the second compartment. The apparatus may further include a barrier disposed between the first compartment and the second compartment configured to separate the first extinguishant agent from the second extinguishant agent, and a barrier rupture mechanism. The barrier rupture mechanism may be configured to rupture the barrier in response to rotation of the first compartment relative to the second compartment to permit the first extinguishant agent to mix with the second extinguishant agent and cause a pressure generating reaction that forms an extinguishant mixture and forces the extinguishant mixture through the at least one escape hole of the housing.

Abstract: An automatic stovetop fire suppressor using a compressed spring to lower a bottom lid upon thermal glass bulb fracture is provided herein. A plastic lid seals on the bottom of a can and forms a closed container. The closed container is filled with a fire suppressing agent. A compressed spring extends when a thermal glass bulb fractures. The extending spring lowers the bottom lid to open the closed container. Fire suppressing agent flows out of the radial opening, suppressing a stovetop fire with minimal or no splashing of cooking oil. A center post is secured to a top wall of the container. A ledge, or bottom support, secured to the container catches the bottom lid to limit the radial opening height. A gradual release of a fire suppressing agent in a desired distribution pattern and method of gradual and spatial agent release can be provided with a cone-shaped bottom lid.

The network device receives communication and control functions from a remote computer for distribution to the devices. The system further includes a sensor positioned within the environment to transmit sensor data to the remote computer. The sensor is configured to detect and transmit a parameter for the environment to the remote computer. The system further includes a controller to control the emission of a fluid from a source of the fluid in fluid communication with the devices. The controller is configured to set or adjust an operation parameter of the devices in response to the sensor data.
Abstract: The present application is directed to a cordless Multi-Use Portable Hand-Held Sprayer with a pump connected to an electric motor which is powered by a rechargeable battery that has been designed to produce a continuous spray from an internal liquid on-board liquid containing reservoir, or from external liquid sources through a suction tube when larger quantities of liquid are required, followed by a positive shut-off. It is made from non-corrosive materials that will not be affected by fluids containing salts or acids. More particularly, a battery powered multi-use portable Hand-Held sprayer device is provided which can be constructed in multiple sizes, mini, small, medium and large, for multiple uses, and configured to pick-up liquid from any liquid source, as well as configured to hold any liquid in an internal reservoir. The unit's nozzle is adjustable from a fine mist to a strong direct line spray.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to problems associated with the installation of new sillcocks in existing masonry or other building materials. A sillcock, or ‘hose bib’ having broader base plate is provided to prevent collapse especially in older or damaged building materials and to minimize damage to new installations.
Abstract: An irrigation system includes a central pivot and a series of mobile towers connected to the central pivot and to one another by support structure. Each mobile tower has wheels and a motor for driving at least one of the wheels. A control system operates the motors to maintain alignment of the mobile towers and the central pivot while preventing power usage of the system from exceeding a maximum power threshold. The control system determines in which sequence to operate the motors to maintain alignment of the mobile towers while operating no more than a selected number of the motors simultaneously.
Abstract: A semi-ringed airfoil is designed in conjunction with a fluid turbine rotor blade to provide increased rotor-tip speed, increased coefficient of power, reduced wind shear and reduced noise. A dual-winglet rotor blade in combination with a semi-ringed airfoil increases the above mentioned benefits by increasing the rotor-blade tip surface-area that is in contact with the area of increased fluid velocity over the semi-ringed airfoil.
Abstract: An apparatus for laser materials processing including a laser (4) for generating a laser beam and a laser head (5) which is movable along at least one spatial direction and is connected to the laser via a light guide, and which emits a laser beam (7) capable of processing a material. The present invention also relates to an apparatus for selective laser melting or selective laser sintering having an apparatus for laser materials processing.
Abstract: A variable orifice spray valve including a valve body (42) having a spray discharge orifice (42A) formed therein. The spray valve further includes a liquid flow passage into the valve body, a deflector plate (45) in proximity to the spray discharge orifice (42A) onto which liquid discharged from the orifice is directed, a spray height adjuster (44) adjacent the orifice and movable relative to the deflector plate (45) into the liquid flow path from the orifice, and an adjustment mechanism (43) to adjust the position of the spray height adjuster (44) relative to the discharge orifice (42A).
Abstract: Spray nozzle systems and methods of use are described herein. The spray nozzle system may include a stationary tube, a rigid rotor, and a sub-medium supply source. The stationary tube may be in fluid communication with a pressurized air source. The substantially rigid rotor is in fluid communication with the pressurized air source. A portion of the conduit is substantially arched such that an outlet of the conduit is offset a radial distance in a radial direction from the rotor axis. Pressurized air ejected from the outlet produces directional components of the pressurized air in the direction of rotation about the rotor axis; and during use, the pressurized air rotates the rotor and sucks sub-medium from the sub-medium supply source into the stationary tube passage.

Abstract: A hose end sprayer has a sprayer lid and a container. The sprayer lid has a cap with a pair of bottle connectors formed of single-ended, fixed diameter, threaded sleeves of different radii mounted on the underside of the sprayer lid's cap. The connectors and a threaded adapter allow the sprayer lid to be connected with containers having mouths of different sizes, including containers in which liquid chemicals are sold. A liquid conduit extends across the cap between a hose inlet on one end and a spray nozzle on the other end, with a siphon tube intersecting the conduit within the periphery of the smaller of the bottle connectors, with mixture of pressurized carrier water entering the liquid conduit at the hose inlet with liquid chemical siphoned from the container through the siphon tube. The chemical/water admixture is expelled from the spray nozzle.
