  • Patent number: 4700907
Abstract: A stock advancing apparatus for advancing stock to or from a stock processing machine. The stock advancing apparatus includes a drive motor for driving the stock advancing apparatus and a stock loop control arm mounted for swinging movement and adapted to engage a stock loop intermediate the stock advancing apparatus in the stock processing machine, and mechanism responsive to swinging movement of the control arm controls operation of the drive motor to maintain a loop in the stock between the stock advancing apparatus and the stock processing machine. A control arm cam is mounted for movement with the stock loop control arm and a cam follower is pressed into engagement with the control arm cam by a spring. The control arm cam and cam follower and spring are constructed and arranged to apply torque to the control arm in a direction to oppose upward movement of the control arm and which increases as the control arm moves upwardly and decreases as the control arm moves downardly.

  • Patent number: 4603750
Abstract: A drilling fluid nozzle for an earth boring bit is formed entirely of tungsten carbide, having hard-ground threads on its exterior for securing in the bit passage. The nozzle has an upwardly facing shoulder located below the threads which sealingly engages a downwardly facing shoulder formed in the bit passage. An O-ring seal is located above the threads.

  • Patent number: 4461460
Abstract: A winch (10) is powdered by a motor (20) mounted at one end of a drum (12) through a three-stage planetary drive train (26) disposed adjacent the opposite end of the drum (12 ). The drive train (26) includes elongate drive shaft (25) which extends longitudinally through the interior of the drum (12) toward the motor (20). A brake-clutch assembly (24), disposed within the interior of the drum (12) operably interconnects motor (20) and drive shaft (25). The brake-clutch assembly (24) automatically operates in response to the magnitude and direction of the torque being transmitted between motor (20) and drive shaft (25). In operation, the brake-clutch assembly (24) permits the drive shaft (25) to rotate relative to and power the drum (12) to reel in the loaded drum cable and then frictionally locks the drive shaft (25) to the inside diameter of the drum (12) to hold the load on the drum cable when motor (20 ) is stopped.

  • Patent number: 3939500
Abstract: A water closet assembly adapted to be mounted on any one of a variety of bases for discharge of waste material into a drainage system, a holding tank, or the like, and which includes features for making optimum use of the flush water. The assembly includes a bowl and a pivotally mounted pan for closing the discharge outlet of the bowl and shaped so that it can provide a water seal when the pan is in its closed position. The pan can be tilted to an open position to discharge the contents of the bowl, and the actuator mechanism for tilting the bowl is operable to open a valve so that flush water will flow into the bowl in timed relation to movement of the pan. The bowl and pan are shaped to make most effective use of the flush water and to provide a desired water spot in the bowl, and an accumulation chamber is provided to measure a desired quantity of water for refilling the pan after a flushing operation.
