Patent number: 9693164Abstract: Example techniques involve determining a direction of an NMD. An example implementation includes causing two audio drivers to output audio content, where the audio drivers are positioned at a known distance apart in a given azimuthal plane and recording the audio content output by the two audio drivers. The implementation also includes causing a processing device to identify a direction of the NMD relative to a center point of the two audio drivers in the given azimuthal plane. Identifying the direction of the NMD may involve determining a range of possible azimuthal angles between the NMD and the center point, the range of possible angles dependent upon the known distance between the two audio drivers and a phase offset between the two audio drivers indicated by the recorded audio content output. The implementation further includes causing a playback device to adjust calibration based on the identified direction of the NMD.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2016Date of Patent: June 27, 2017Assignee: Sonos, Inc.Inventors: Romi Kadri, Dayn Wilberding

Patent number: 9654886Abstract: A connector-based link is suited to various signals and media for connecting a tube with a hearing instrument, which ensures a reliable mechanical hold, good connection and high tightness and in the process is easy to handle. This is achieved by a connector for a hearing instrument system including a housing which contains a number of connections, and a tube which contains a number of lines, which is embodied to detachably connect a number of lines of the tube to a number of connections of the housing, wherein the connections of the connector contain different spatial orientations. The fact that the connections each have a different spatial orientation brings about a mutual decoupling. As a result, the demands on dimensional stability of the various connections are advantageously reduced since the different connections are not closed in a shared, identical end position.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2013Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: Sivantos Pte. Patent number: 9510076Abstract: Disclosed is a waterproof earphone structure including a main body with a rear cavity and a front cavity for installing a waterproof module and a shielding module respectively, and a speaker body installed in the main body. The waterproof module includes first and second waterproof elements installed in the rear and front cavities of the main body respectively. This structure not just allows users to sense external sounds only, but also improves low-frequency noise interference and water-resistance. Since the first and second waterproof elements are formed with pores having a diameter smaller than 0.6 mm and arranged apart from one another, external low-frequency noises are suppressed. Further, the effect of surface tension prevents water from entering into waterproof devices or soaking the interior of the earphone. Users enjoy good sound quality since the sound is transmitted through the pores. In addition, the shielding module provides an anti-dust effect.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2015Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: Kingstate Electronics CorporationInventors: Ting-Wei Lee, Chia-Yuan Tang, Cheng-Yang Lo

Patent number: 9503815Abstract: To address issues with present echo gate control, a method and apparatus for more intelligently operating an echo gate is described herein. In particular, the decision of whether to mute an uplink signal, or not, is formulated herein as primarily a perceptual decision based on an appropriate analysis of the perceptual interaction of the current residual echo and the current near-end signal(s). By doing so, the application of muting through an echo gate may be minimized and/or more appropriately engaged. This will lead to fewer dropouts and muting of speech onsets and offsets 1) during periods such as double-talk or 2) during periods of downlink playback in the presence of low near-end signal levels, two cases of particular importance.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2014Date of Patent: November 22, 2016Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Sean Anthony Ramprashad, Qing Yang
