Abstract: A computer-implemented method of using video viewer interaction data as input to a measurement engine which then calculates: demographic level and aggregate level (a) household reach for advertisements and video content based on user defined reach periods, (b) One-minute, Thirty-minute, and Sixty-minute channel viewing metrics, and (c) One-minute, Thirty-minute, and Sixty-minute aggregate viewing metrics, all based on second-by-second household level viewing activity. Also shows creation of Commercial Schedule Cumulative Audience, Impressions for Reach Periods, Demographic Group Impressions, Average Audience, Average Audience Share, Average Rating, Households Using Television, and Households Using Television Percent using household level data. Works with IP and linear video delivery. Together these metrics provide detailed information on customer viewing behavior which can be used to drive business decisions for service providers, advertisers, and content producers.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to modem and router modules for use with digital display systems, including televisions. A modem module is configurable to attach to a set-top box, a set-back box, directly to a digital display, or may even be integrated into display equipment. Router functions and ports can be integrated into the module to provide for networking of additional devices in proximity to the module and/or display, using either or both wired and wireless access technologies. Systems including the module convert power to the appropriate forms for delivery to the different devices, hardware, and components associated with the module. The modem and routing functions are configurable to provide separate security domains to isolate or direct traffic among the various networked devices.

Abstract: A method, performed by a hub device, of storing a voice assistant model for controlling a device includes receiving information about a first device connected to the hub device, requesting a voice assistant server to update a device determination model stored in the hub device; receiving the updated device determination model from the voice assistant server and storing the received updated device determination model; requesting, from the voice assistant server, information about a function determination model corresponding to the first device; receiving the information about the function determination model corresponding to the first device from the voice assistant server, and determining whether to store the function determination model in the hub device based on the received information; and based on the function determination model being determined to be stored in the hub device, storing, in the hub device, the function determination model corresponding to the first device.

An example apparatus includes a storage device, and a processor to execute instructions to identify a first source streaming broadcast media to a first computing device based on an audio fingerprint of audio associated with the broadcast media, identify sources broadcasting the broadcast media streaming to the first computing device, the sources available to a second computing device including the processor, select a second source of the identified sources for streaming the broadcast media to the second computing device, the second source different than the first source, detect termination of the streaming of the broadcast media on the first computing device, the termination corresponding to a termination time of the broadcast media, and automatically start, by using the selected second source, streaming of the broadcast media to the second computing device at the termination time.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to monitor media are disclosed. An example apparatus includes memory; computer readable instructions; and processor circuitry to execute the computer readable instructions to: generate a plurality of errors by comparing (a) a plurality of watermarks adjusted by offsets and (b) reference data, the adjusted watermarks corresponding to watermark data with inaccurate timing information for media; identify an offset of the offsets based on the plurality of errors; and adjust timing information of a watermark of the watermarks using the offset to increase an accuracy of the timing information.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of processing a sequence of image frames to reduce its length. One implementation may involve extracting coefficients (e.g., Discrete Cosine Transform coefficients) from components of individual frames, and comparing the resulting coefficients for sequential frames to identify frames having the least change from a prior frame. Also, scene change values for each frame may be calculated and placed in a sorted list to facilitate identification of frames for removal. Frame removal may be conducted in rounds, where a group of pictures (GOP) may only have one frame removed for any given round.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards remotely generating encoding metadata at a remote content distributor for use by a local user computing device. The remote content distributor receives and encodes content. During or after the encoding process, the remote content distributor generates encoding metadata that indicates how the content was encoded by the remote content distributor. The remote content distributor provides the encoding metadata to the user computer device. The user computing device receives the content and the encoding metadata and encodes the content based on the encoding metadata. The user computing device can then provide the encoded content to another computing device for decoding and presentation to a user.

Abstract: A method for assessing viewer interest in content and advertisements may include receiving an indication regarding a content playback mode change (e.g., a change from a skip or fast-forward mode to a pause or rewind mode) occurring during playing of a media content segment such as a television program or movie. The method then proceeds to associate the playback mode change with a sub-segment of the television program, such as an advertisement or commercial, and a level of interest of a user in the advertisement or commercial is determined based on the associated content playback mode change. An item, such as an advertisement or promotional offer can be selected to be presented to the user based on the determined level of interest of the user in the advertisement or commercial. Systems for assessing viewer interest in content and advertisements include devices and components configured to perform or enable such methods.

In accordance with some implementations, methods for detecting a presentation of media content on a display device are provided, the methods comprising: detecting, using a light sensor, light levels in the light sensor's surroundings; generating a signal representing the light levels; detecting, using a hardware processor, at least one variation in light levels indicative of a presentation of a video scene based on the signal; detecting at least one variation in light levels indicative of a scene change subsequent to the video scene based on the signal; and determining that media content is being presented on a display device in response to detecting the variation in light levels indicative of the presentation of the video scene and the variation in light levels indicative of the scene change.
