Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of processing a sequence of image frames to reduce its length. One implementation may involve extracting coefficients (e.g., Discrete Cosine Transform coefficients) from components of individual frames, and comparing the resulting coefficients for sequential frames to identify frames having the least change from a prior frame. Also, scene change values for each frame may be calculated and placed in a sorted list to facilitate identification of frames for removal. Frame removal may be conducted in rounds, where a group of pictures (GOP) may only have one frame removed for any given round.
Abstract: A system and method for testing multiple residential gateways. One of the multiple residential gateways is engaged in a testing platform of a test fixture. The testing platform includes an adapter for interfacing the set-top box with the test fixture. The multiple residential gateways are automatically tested in parallel. Test results for each of the multiple residential gateways are measured. The test results for each of the multiple residential gateways are displayed to a user.
Abstract: A customized content selection and delivery system is operable to create a customized content channel package for a subscriber and customized content channel package to a customer premises over a content delivery network. A multi-level analysis based on measured content consumption metrics is performed to select content provider channels for the customized content channel package.

Abstract: Non-disruptive sweep measurements using low power coherent signals overcome the limitations of prior art frequency response systems for cable networks. Modulated or unmodulated, e.g. continuous wave (CW), test signals are transmitted into the network at a first or input point (input point is in the head end for forward sweep; input point is in the field for reverse sweep). The test signals are transmitted continuously at multiple frequencies, so as a composite they form a wideband, OFDM-like (orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) waveform. A receiver at a second or output point generates power reading measurements, from which the frequency response of the network is produced.
Abstract: A video distribution technique permits individual subscribers to pay a nominal fee to follow celebrities and receive videos directly therefrom. An individual may qualify as a broadcaster by having a sufficient fan base as measured by the number of followers in existing social media services. The broadcaster uploads video to a central processing service where it may be transcoded to a convenient communication protocol for distribution. In addition, a warning message is sent to all subscribers of a particular broadcaster to indicate the impending arrival of an incoming video from the broadcaster. In one embodiment, the user will not receive any video unless they transmit an acknowledgement to the push text notification. In an alternative embodiment, the subscriber will receive all videos automatically unless they respond to the push text notification to opt out of receiving the video.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for reducing data bandwidth between a cloud server and a thin client. The method comprises: rendering a base layer image or video stream at the thin client, transmitting an enhancement layer image or video stream from the cloud server to the thin client, displaying a composite layer image or video stream on the thin client, the composite layer being based on the base layer and the enhancement layer.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed that generally relate to content delivery techniques in audio-visual systems. In an audio-visual system, a method of using sensors to incrementally present content elements on a display includes presenting a first content element on the display, receiving first data from a sensor, the first data associated with a first distance. An increment coefficient is identified, and a portion size is determined by reducing the first distance by the increment coefficient. Finally, an unseen portion of a second content element is incrementally added to the display, and a presented portion of the first content element is incrementally removed from the display, the size of the portions added and removed being equal to the determined portion size.
