  • Patent number: 8292336
Abstract: Several new components are provided for a mortise lock. First, a non-handed clutching assembly, including a pair of spindle hubs rotatable within a pair of outer operating cams, is provided for a mortise lock. Second, a spindle-mounted lock-handing selector—which can be removed from one side of the lockset body while the lockset body is installed in the mortise of a door—is provided to set the handing of the clutching assembly. Third, an escapement mechanism is provided for a reciprocating-slide-based clutchworks, enabling the slides to move into a position biasing a clutch lever arm toward a hub-coupling position, even if the outer and spindle hubs are misaligned. Fourth, a guardbolt-actuated blocking assembly for a lockset is provided to block movement of the stop works or clutchworks when the door is closed and the outside door handle is disabled.

  • Patent number: 8201858
Abstract: A locking system for a stop button employed in a mortise lock having a spindle for operating a latch utilizing a first spindle base and a second spindle base which are nested relative to one another. Each base includes an opening for the mortise lock spindle such that the spindle may enter the combined first and second bases from the left side or the right side. A locking hub overrides either the first or second base and is capable of selectively lying over either the first or second base. An abutment linked to the stop button interacts with the locking hub such that either the first or second base may not be turned by the spindle when this occurs. Locking hub selectively locks either the first or second base through its position relative to the same and allows the mortise lock to easily transform from a left-hand version to a right-hand version.

  • Patent number: 8186727
Abstract: The present invention is a door lock that eliminates the need for an additional deadbolt lock on a door. The present invention has a deadbolt built into the doorknob assembly. The deadbolt is put into place every time the door is closed. This eliminates the need of having to separately lock and unlock two locks, the first being the doorknob and the second being the deadbolt.

  • Patent number: 8181393
Abstract: The lock mechanism comprises a first subunit (6) arranged to be fixed on an outer face of an upright tubular member (7) of the hinged leaf and a second subunit (8) arranged to be fixed within the tubular member (7). The second subunit (8) comprises a frame (9), a bolt member (10) movably mounted on said frame (9) between a projected and a retracted position, and a bolt operating mechanism which comprises a gear train (20, 21, 22) to increase the travel of the bolt member (10). The first subunit (6) comprises operator means (26, 28, 29). The lock mechanism further comprises a rotary shaft (32) by means of which the bolt operating mechanism can be coupled to the operator means so that only a hole has to be made in the tubular member (7) of the leaf.

  • Patent number: 8182004
Abstract: An operating mechanism unit includes a motor, a worm wheel being rotated by the motor, a sector gear meshing with a pinion provided on one side of the worm wheel and rotating to an unlocking position and a locking position, switch levers connected to the sector gear and shifting to an unlocking position where engagement with a meshing mechanism is releasable and a locking position where the engagement cannot be released, and a key sub-lever pivotally supported on the same pivot on which the sector gear pivots. The key sub-lever is rotatable from a neutral position in an unlocking direction and a locking direction in synchronism with operation of a key cylinder so as to rotate the sector gear to the unlocking position by rotating in the unlocking direction and to rotate the sector gear in the locking direction by rotating in the locking direction.

  • Patent number: 8136851
Abstract: An apparatus and method providing a quick-release latch mechanism for a walled enclosure access door. The latch mechanism includes a striker with one end slidably inserted into the enclosure and the other end located outside the enclosure. A keeper is located within the enclosure and adapted to releasably engage and be captively held by the striker when the access door is in the closed position. If necessary, the access door can be readily unlatched from within the enclosure by manually rotating the keeper away from the enclosure wall to disengage and cause removal of the striker as the access door is being manually pushed open from within the enclosure.
