Abstract: Supporting printer maintenance in a network environment having a server, at least one network device and a printer, the server containing a plurality of printer configuration files, wherein the printer maintenance is supported by accessing one of the printer configuration files which corresponds to the printer, the configuration file including a plurality of printer maintenance function names and a plurality of printer maintenance commands corresponding to the printer maintenance function names, generating an HTML-based page corresponding to the printer, the HTML-based page containing each of the printer maintenance function names from the accessed printer configuration file, and sending the HTML-based page to the network device, wherein, upon selection in the network device of one of the printer maintenance function names in the HTML-based page, the server sends to the printer the printer maintenance command which corresponds to the selected printer maintenance function name.

In a method for deciding whether to route an incoming call on a selected potential service route, the potential service route is treated preferentially if each of its links has available capacity that is more than sufficient by a specified margin. In a method for computing billing revenues, the non-compliance of the network service provider with contracted requirements for carried load causes a revenue penalty to be exacted for lost bandwidth.

Abstract: Data objects are gathered and organized through a computer system and stored for subsequent access through a computer network by a mobile device such as a wireless telephone. The data objects have attributes and can be acted upon using predefined actions and associated types to greatly simplify user accessibility to such data objects through the limited user interface and bandwidth capabilities of a mobile device.

Abstract: A data sharing method for use in a computer system provided with a first computer, a second computer and a data storage subsystem for connection with the first and second computers is disclosed. The data storage subsystem has a plurality of memory units and a control unit for controlling the plurality of memory units. The control unit forms a paired state of a first memory unit storing data for use by the first computer and a second memory unit, the paired state being so controlled as to match the contents of the first memory unit and those of the second memory unit. When data used by the first computer are to be used by the second computer, the control unit releases the paired state between the first memory unit and the second memory unit to stop updating of the first memory unit to be reflected in the second memory unit.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for managing configuration inconsistencies between a network management system (NMS) and network elements (NEs). In one example, the system includes a user interface, which includes an object field configured to identify database objects of the network management system, wherein each database object corresponds to a network element; a network device field configured to identify a top level network device that contains the network element; a status field configured to display a database object state, wherein the database object state represents a relationship between the database object configuration and the network element configuration; and an input mechanism configured to issue a command to edit one of network element values and database object values.

Abstract: Systems and methods to enforce policy in a multi-computer service application are described. The application includes multiple software modules that execute on multiple computers. The multi-computer service application has access to a communications medium that allows data communications between different ones of the computers. The software modules have logical input and output ports and logical data connections between modules. Each logical port is defined by port software. In one aspect, a particular module sends a notification to a policy module. Responsive to the notification, the policy module (a) determines a request for one or more destination modules, and (b) provides the request to an output port of the policy module. The output port forwards the request to input ports of a plurality of the modules in accordance with the logical data connections.
