  • Patent number: 9976762
Abstract: A synthetic jet driven cooling device includes at least one synthetic jet actuator to generate and project a series of fluid vortices. A manifold coupled to the synthetic jet actuator(s) receives the fluid vortices and generates a primary air stream. An air amplifier connected to the manifold by a connecting pipe receives the primary air stream. The air amplifier includes an air intake oriented perpendicular to the connecting pipe and an air outlet positioned opposite the air intake, with a venturi section positioned between the air intake and air outlet that has a diameter smaller than the air intake diameter. A low pressure region in a center of the venturi section entrains a surrounding air in through the air intake to generate a secondary air stream that combines with the primary air stream to generate a combined air flow that flows through the venturi and exits the air outlet.

  • Patent number: 9956846
Abstract: A blower unit for a vehicle heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit is disclosed. The blower unit includes a case member that defines at least one exterior air intake aperture and at least one interior air intake aperture. The blower unit also includes a sealing member, a first door, and a second door. The first and second doors can move independent of each other. The first and second doors can be positioned in a mixture position to allow air flow into the blower unit through both the exterior and interior air intake apertures. The first door, in the mixture position, is sealed against the sealing member. As such, the first door and the sealing member cooperate to reduce air flow out of the blower unit through the interior air intake aperture.

  • Patent number: 9950589
Abstract: A vehicle air conditioner includes a blower for blowing air into a space of a vehicle compartment, and an air-conditioning mode switching portion for switching between air conditioning modes. The air conditioning modes include a normal air conditioning mode in which air conditioning of a specific region including a driver seat and air conditioning of a non-specific region not including the specific region in the space of the vehicle compartment are performed, and a specific-region prioritizing air conditioning mode in which an air conditioning capability for the non-specific region is decreased as compared to the normal air conditioning mode. The air-conditioning mode switching portion adjusts the air conditioning capability for the non-specific region based on a pressure of air drawn into the blower, in the specific-region prioritizing air conditioning mode.

  • Patent number: 9920871
Abstract: A blast wave damper comprises a section of duct, with a multiplicity of rigid elements each extending across the duct. All the elements are parallel to each other, and they are arranged in an array consisting of a multiplicity of lines, each such line extending across the duct. The elements in one line are staggered relative to the elements in an adjacent line, and the gaps between successive elements within a line are no wider than the widths of the elements. There may be ten columns of tubular elements in a regular array. This may be combined with a louver mechanism arranged to shut if the pressure drop exceeds a threshold.

  • Fan
    Patent number: 9903380
Abstract: A fan for a ventilation system has a motor, a motor speed control unit and a controller arranged to control the motor to maintain the quantity of air flowing through the system constant. The controller compares the actual motor current with an expected motor current for the fan operating at the desired air quantity and motor speed to determine an actual system operating condition. When the difference between the actual motor current and the expected motor current is greater than a preset range, the motor speed is adjusted to a new motor speed determined based on the actual system operating condition. The system operating conditions may change due to changes in the static pressure of the system such as changes to the ventilation ducting or external wind pressure.

  • Patent number: 9869482
Abstract: The ventilation system is a system for ventilating a building and comprises an air supplier/exhauster comprising air supply function and exhaust function and a ventilation control device controlling the operation of the air supplier/exhauster. Upon operating the air supplier/exhauster, the ventilation control device determines which the air supplier/exhauster conducts, air supply operation or exhaust operation, based on wind information regarding the outdoor wind. The ventilation through the ventilation passage from the air supplier/exhauster to a vent provided in the building is conducted when the air supplier/exhauster conducts air supply operation. Alternatively, the ventilation through the ventilation passage from the vent to the air supplier/exhauster is conducted when the air supplier/exhauster conducts exhaust operation.
