  • Patent number: 8827053
Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-amplifying electromechanical partial lining disc brake, having a ramp mechanism as a self-amplification device. According to the invention, a rack for driving a friction brake pad is situated between roller elements of the ramp mechanism, particularly at a geometrical centroid of an imaginary surface defined by the roller elements. As a result a load is distributed to the roller elements in a more uniform fashion and the pressing force of the friction brake pad against a brake disc when the partial lining disc brake is actuated is distributed more uniformly and counteracts irregular pad wear.

  • Patent number: 8827057
Abstract: It is desired to make a shock absorbing structure small in size. The shock absorbing structure includes a beam-like structural member having a concave section; and a shock absorbing member, one end of which is arranged in the concave section to abut to the structural member and the other end of which is arranged outside the structural member. Even in a case of a dead stroke when the shock absorbing member is bottomed out, the concave section overlaps with the structural member supporting the structure, so that there is no wasteful space.

  • Patent number: 8807300
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a shock absorber having a damping fluid compensation chamber with a gas charge. In one aspect, a partition separates a first chamber portion from a second chamber portion, wherein the first portion of the chamber is at a first initial gas pressure and the second portion of the chamber is at a second initial pressure. A valve separates the first and second chamber portions and opening the valve commingles the first and second chamber portions so that the combined chamber portions are at a third pressure. In another aspect, a piston disposed through a wall is in pressure communication with the gas charge and is biased inwardly toward a pressure of the charge, whereby an indicator is movable by the piston in response to the pressure.

  • Patent number: 8800728
Abstract: A heavy-duty vehicle brake assembly with a sealing interface includes a brake shoe, which includes a shoe table mounted on a web and a brake lining mounted on the shoe table. The shoe table is coated with a zinc-rich coating to form the sealing interface between the brake lining and the shoe table. The sealing interface resists the formation of corrosion cells on the brake shoe table, which in turn reduces the build-up of significant rust between the brake shoe table and the brake shoe lining, thereby preventing cracking and potential dislodging of the lining, while also facilitating replacement of linings when they eventually wear. A method of constructing a heavy-duty vehicle brake assembly with a sealing interface is also provided.

  • Patent number: 8794392
Abstract: In a rappelling device (10) for braking a load guided on a cable which can be fixed to the rappelling device (10), the cable (14) is friction-guided over a distance (22) and the cable (14) which runs through the rappelling device (10) is guided over a brakable shaft (24). The cable (14) is pressed onto the brakable shaft (24) by means of a pre-definable pressing force (29). The braking elements for the brakable shaft (24) can be kept small in weight and design because an additional braking of the cable (14) takes place over the friction-guided distance in the rappelling device (10).

  • Patent number: 8763767
Abstract: In a method for controlling an electronic parking brake system and an electronic parking brake system, a travel-optimized method is used to achieve the released state of the parking brake system. When the parking brake is applied, travel-force values are detected and a plausibility check is run, the values being used to arrive at a first optimized position when the brake is released. If the residual force applied to the brake exceeds a threshold value, the parking brake is released even more until the value remains just under the threshold value or until a maximum defined release travel is achieved.
