Abstract: A powder conveying device includes a powder container, a powder conveying tube, a powder conveying member, and a detecting unit. The powder container is configured to contain powder. The powder conveying tube guides the powder from the powder container to a conveyance destination located downward from the powder container. The powder conveying member is located inside the powder conveying tube, and moves to convey the powder toward downstream in a conveying direction. The detecting unit is located in the powder conveying tube, and detects a remaining amount of powder. Time t2 taken to convey the maximum amount of powder satisfies t2<t1 where t1 is the sum of time required to feed recording sheets and time interval between feeding of the recording sheets.

  • Patent number: 7761020
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus in which a visual image on a photosensitive drum is developed with columnar toner, and the developed toner image is transferred from the photosensitive drum to an intermediate transfer belt, a moving speed of the photosensitive drum and a moving speed of the intermediate transfer belt are different at a contact position (transfer nip section) where the photosensitive drum and the intermediate transfer belt are in contact. With this arrangement, toner scattering, nonuniform image etc. can be reduced in the image forming apparatus, in which the development is carried out with columnar toner.

  • Patent number: 7756448
Abstract: A traction-drive force transmission mechanism, includes a sun roller rotatable about a first axis and a plurality of shafts. Each is disposed on an adjacent axis inclined relative to the first axis. Planetary rollers are disposed along an outer peripheral surface of the sun roller and are supported respectively by the shaft. A carrier holds each of the shafts in the inclined posture and is adapted to be rotated about the first axis together with the planetary rollers. A pressing member pressingly moves each planetary roller in a direction for reducing a distance to the first axis so as to press each planetary roller against the outer peripheral surface of the sun roller. Thus a driving force can be transmitted to a traction force between the sun roller and each of the planetary rollers.

  • Patent number: 7751769
Abstract: A fixing device for image forming apparatus includes: a first nip member in a shape of an endless belt and a second nip member that rotates while pressed against the first nip member. A heat source heats at least one of the nip members. A pressure receiver receives pressure applied to the first nip member from the second nip member. A sliding contact has a contact surface that makes sliding contact with an inner surface of an axial end of the first nip member. A supporting mechanism supports the sliding contact to displace the contact surface thereof away from the pressure receiver as the first nip member moves away from the sliding contact along the axial direction. The displacement increases frictional forces between the contact surface and the inner surface of the first nip member, thus suppressing axial displacement of the first nip member from the sliding contact.

  • Patent number: 7751736
Abstract: In an image density correction method in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, an image density correction is carried out by obtaining an actual toner amount through obtaining a density of a between-sheet patch image having been formed during continuous printing, reconstructing relational characteristics in which the actual toner amount is associated with each variation in developing biases, by considering that the actual toner amount and a reference toner amount are to be made in agreement, when a determination that the actual toner amount disagrees with the reference toner amount is made, and resetting a developing bias for realizing the reference toner amount based on the reconstructed relational characteristics and the reference toner amount. By this means, a high quality image can be obtained by suppressing color fluctuations with printing efficiency maintained at a high level even if large color fluctuations occur during continuous printing.
