Abstract: A pair of vertical telescoping members are progressively lockable into any relative position to vary the overall length thereof by special locking hardware mounted on the inner member where it is not visible. The hardware includes a locking member movable in part by inertial forces between a released or unlocking position and a locking position where it forms a one way slip clutch with the inner surface of the outer member which permits the inner member to be raised which then preferably shifts the locking member into a release position. The inner member is moved further up or down to its desired position. Whenever the inner member is released, it is preferred that gravity will cause the inner member to move suddenly downwardly a small distance quickly to cause the locking portion of this member to move to its locking position.

Abstract: A file folder capable of being suspended from a hanging storage rack, having first and second straight shank ordinary fasteners for mounting first and second hanger members upon the file folder and whereby terminal portions of the hanger members are selectively positioned inside of the file folder or outside of the folder to enable the folder to be hung within an ordinary hanging storage rack. The fasteners also bind papers to the folder at the same time.
Abstract: A vertical file assembly which is easy and less costly to manufacture with injection molding techniques has (1) a divider unit with spaced apart dividers rising from an integral base panel to form compartments for books, catalogs, file folders and documents and (2) two wedge-shaped adapters each with a pair of barbed projections projecting inwards from an upper edge. These projections are inserted in receiving slots and latched in apertures formed in the bottom of the base panel of the divider unit. When the adapters and divider unit are assembled, the base panel slants upward from front to back to elevate each divider a certain measure above the preceding divider. The wedge-shaped adapters also have tabs with ledge portions which slide along the sidewalls and are caught in niches in the sidewalls of a supporting letter tray.
