  • Patent number: 8500339
Abstract: A locking device is provided that is configured to be attached to the MPO connector module and placed in a locking state that prevents the MPO connector module from being decoupled from the receptacle. The locking device may be a locking clip that is configured to be inserted into a keying slot formed in an MPO connector module. When the locking clip is inserted into the keying slot and placed in a locking state, the locking clip prevents the MPO connector module from being decoupled from the receptacle. If the locking clip is placed in an unlocking state, a tool or fingers can be used to extract the locking clip from the keying slot, thereby making it possible to decouple the MPO connector module from the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 8493533
Abstract: Light leakage between pixel electrodes over a video signal line in a TN-type liquid crystal display device in which a dot inversion driving is applied with a three o'clock viewing angle is prevented. Pixel electrodes (PX) are formed on both sides of a video signal line (DL) of a first substrate (SUB1), and an end of the pixel electrode (PX) and the video signal line (DL) overlap each other. Over a second substrate (SUB2), a black matrix (BM) is formed in a portion corresponding to the video signal line (DL). By shifting the black matrix BM and the video signal line DL to the left with respect to a gap G between the pixel electrodes PX, it is possible to prevent light leakage caused by a disclination line (DS) which occurs by a horizontal electric field between pixel electrodes (PX).

Abstract: A liquid crystal lens cell set includes a plurality of liquid crystal lenses overlapping to each other. Each of the liquid crystal lenses is supported between a pair of flat layers. One of the layers supports a planar electrode made of ITO. The other electrode, also formed of ITO, is supported in the center of the opposing substrate and projects toward the center of the liquid crystal layer. A power supply creates a potential difference between the electrodes and imposes a non-uniform electric field on the liquid crystal modules which aligns them in which a way as to act as a lens. By varying voltage between the electrodes the focal length of the lens may be controlled. A central electrode may be in the form of a beam or of a pointed tip. An electrode having a central hole may be associated with the central electrode or the planar electrode.

  • Patent number: 8433170
Abstract: The invention relates to control of THz radiation in parallel plate waveguides (PPWG) by forming components in the waveguide by use of optical radiation pulses. Patterns of excited regions induced in the PPWG by an optical excitation pulses changes the electromagnetic properties of the waveguide medium in the THz regime, thereby forming transient passive and active components for controlling THz radiation signals. The excitation can be generation of free charge carriers in a semiconductor material in the PPWG, to create metallic regions that form mirrors, lenses or photonic crystal structures in the PPWG. The photo-induced pattern can be modulated in time in response to an incoming signal, to frequency-, phase- or amplitude-modulate the THz signal. The systems can be integrated on chip-scale components and can be applied in e.g. THz communication, digital computing, sensors, and lab-on-a-chip applications. The optical and THz radiation can be ultrashort pulses with picosecond or femtosecond pulse durations.
