  • Patent number: 6212021
Abstract: An optical apparatus having a temperature compensating function includes an optical element holding frame arranged to hold an optical element, a support member arranged to support the optical element holding frame for movement in a direction of an optical axis and having a cam for moving the optical element holding frame in the direction of the optical axis, and a correction member arranged to expand or contract in a direction orthogonally intersecting the optical axis according to temperature variation, wherein the optical element holding frame rotates in association with expansion or contraction of the correction member so as to be moved in the direction of the optical axis along the cam of the support member.

  • Patent number: 6111706
Abstract: An adjustable lens support assembly retains and supports a lens in fixed registration during the manufacturing process. The lens support assembly includes a plurality of adjustable spring-loaded lens retainer pins that enable a plurality of lenses of various diameters to be maintained therein. The adjustable lens retainer pins, preferably three (3) pins, extend upward from a circular base having a tapered upper surface. A spacer supports the base above the lens support arm a predetermined distance to provide sufficient clearance to permit of the operation a mechanism to pivot simultaneously the lens retainer pins. A lens pad is centrally disposed on the base to support the lens. When the lens is placed in the lens support assembly, the concave surface of the lens engages the lens pad and the outer edges of the composite lens engage the adjustable lens retainer pins. Each lens retainer pin includes a lower pin portion and an upper pin portion.

  • Patent number: 6097544
Abstract: An optical element is made of a material that is transparent to a selected spectral band and has an embedded optical layer system. The optical layer system has a first optical system in a first plane which at least predominately reflects light from a first band in the spectral band, and at least predominately transmits light from a second band in the spectral band. A second optical system is also provided in a second plane that intersects the first plane in a central area of the body of the optical element. The second system predominately transmits light from the first band and predominately reflects light from the second band. Optical paths are defined in the optical element between first and second entrances and exits for the light of the first and second bands.
