Abstract: In one aspect of this invention, a fluid actuated clutch is disclosed. The fluid actuated clutch is operatively connected to a control valve that is activated by an electronic controller that receives a signal from an input mechanism. The system and method includes detecting an instantaneous clutch slip and detecting when the instantaneous clutch slip is less than an average of a predetermined number of cycles of instantaneous clutch slip that is divided by a predetermined factor. This condition represents the end-of-fill point for the fluid actuated clutch.

Abstract: A hydraulic fan coupling comprises a hermetically sealed case that is driven by the engine. The case is made of metal. Fan blades made of resin are molded onto elongated outer portions of the case.
Abstract: A torque converter with a lock-up mechanism used in an automobile capable for reliable shifting from an unlocked state to a locked-up state even in a coasting running. An oil passage is disposed for introducing hydraulic operating fluid used for engaging the lock-up clutch with the front cover to a first oil chamber defined between the stator and the turbine. A by-pass oil passage is branched from the oil passage for communicating the first oil passage and a second oil chamber defined between the stator and the pump, so that the hydraulic operating fluid used for engaging the lock-up clutch with the front cover is introduced to the second oil chamber having a lower oil pressure when the turbine pumps the circulating hydraulic operating fluid during coasting running of the automobile.
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) including a core element (12) movably supported by a conduit (16) with a unique swivel tube joint between a fitting (18) and a swivel tube (26) wherein a counterbore (34) is formed to define a female end in the swivel tube (26), the counterbore (34) being larger in diameter than the bore (27) in the swivel tube (26) which supports a core end rod (14). The swivel tube (26) is retained on the head (30) and groove (32) portion of the end fitting (18) by having deformations (38) crimped into the counterbored section of the swivel tube (26) with the deformations being spaced from the bottom of the groove (32).
