  • Patent number: 11196785
Abstract: A fault-tolerant, cloud-based system can comprise a redundancy control unit capable of switching between transcoded video streams output by two or more transcoders. The redundancy control unit outputs a manifest from one of the transcoded streams and, upon detecting a fault in the stream, can modify the manifest to switch to another of the transcoded video streams. The redundancy control unit can further modify the manifest to flag the discontinuity in the video stream, which allows the player to switch to the new transcoding video stream without error. Other embodiments can include additional redundancies to help provide additional fault tolerance.

  • Patent number: 11196824
Abstract: A method for controlling functions of an electronic device by a server includes establishing a communication connection between the server and the electronic device when a distance between the electronic device and the server is less than or equal to a preset value. Positioning information of the electronic device is acquired at every preset time when the electronic device enters a preset control area. A control mode of the electronic device is determined according to positioning information of the electronic device. Once a control signal is generated according to the control mode of the electronic device, status of an image-capturing device, and/or status of a microphone of the electronic device are controlled according to the control signal.

  • Patent number: 11184235
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for “direct mode” (in-band) performance loss measurement in computer networks where packet loss is measured directly in the data plane using techniques based on ECMP paths. Counters on each of an ingress node and an egress node are configured by a network controller to count traffic for indicators associated with different equal-cost multi-path (ECMP) paths through a network between ingress and egress nodes. Each indicator is toggled on or off during a measurement interval during which traffic is measured by the traffic counters on the ingress and egress nodes for each ECMP path. The traffic counters (measured in bytes/packets) from the ingress and egress nodes are sent via event driven telemetry to the network controller for performance loss measurement determination.

  • Patent number: 11165690
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to implement a request routing layer of a service provider system, where the request routers are aware of different versions of a service implemented by the servers of the system. In embodiments, the request routers may discover the different versions of the service via periodic health messages or request responses from the servers. Requests are routed to the servers according to a routing policy that specifies the relative proportions of requests that are to be routed to each version. Version metrics generated from the requests may be captured and provided to a version change manager, which may update the routing policy based on the metrics, either increasing or decreasing the proportion of requests for the different versions. In embodiments, the request router may implement additional rules that control their routing behavior in response to detected error conditions.

  • Patent number: 11146484
Abstract: A method, a device, and a system for deferring a switchback. A first network device sends a query packet to a second network device, detects, according to the query packet, whether a route from the second network device to a destination device is available after receiving the query packet, and when it is available, the second network device sends a query response packet to the first network device in order to trigger the first network device to switch back from a secondary route to a primary route. The technical solution provided reduces a wait-to-restore time of the switchback, ensures that service data transmitted from the first network device to the second network device can be transmitted to the destination device, and facilitates smooth transmission of the service data.

  • Patent number: 11108832
Abstract: Systems and methods for selectively routing a connect to a network through a control function associated with the network. The system can distinguish between control functions based on functionalities associated with the control function itself or capabilities associated with a user device. The system can select between the control functions based at least in part on an identifier associated with the user device, a subscriber account associated with the user device, or another trait of the connection. The system can select the control function based on a determination made by a control node associated with the network and may be further based on a Network Resource Function, a Domain Name System server, internal static listings of the control functions, or other resource that associates one or more identifiers with the control function. The system can obtain the identifier once the user device requests a connection with the network and provide the identifier to the control node.
