  • Patent number: 5085090
Abstract: A rotation transmitting mechanism includes a first cylindrical body, a second cylindrical body arranged parallel to the first cylindrical body, a rotary body disposed parallel to the first cylindrical body, and circumscribed with the first and second cylindrical body, a pressing unit for pressing one of the first and second cylindrical bodies against the other of the first and second cylindrical bodies so as to make the first and second cylindrical bodies contact each other, and a moving unit for moving the rotary body toward a point where the first cylindrical body contacts the second cylindrical body so as to inhibit contact of the first cylindrical body with the second cylindrical body, and to contact the rotary body with the first and second cylindrical bodies, and for retreating the rotary body in a direction opposite to the aforementioned point so as to permit contact of the first cylindrical body with the second cylindrical body, which contact is caused by the pressing unit.

  • Patent number: 5081880
Abstract: The force-locking connection between a shaft (1) and driving elements (21) attached to it is improved or achieved via a slight plastic expansion of the shaft in that the driving elements are arranged in groups and connected by connecting sleeves (22) produced so as to be integral with the driving elements. The higher degree of elastic expansion is limited to the region of the connecting sleeves so that the driving elements themselves are largely excluded from this process. The dimensional accuracy of the finish-machined driving elements is not adversely affected. If necessary, recesses (27) may be produced to form webs (24) as a result of which the elastic deformation occurring in the inner region (23) is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5069088
Abstract: A ball bearing for effecting endless linear motion comprising an elongated rod-like insert member and an outer sleeve member for receiving it within its longitudinally extending throughbore, with a plurality of balls intervened on the interface between the two members so as to effect a smooth relative linear motion thereof along their longitudinal axes.

  • Patent number: 4723455
Abstract: An electric motor changes the output speed of a mechanically-adjustable variable speed drive apparatus by controlled bi-directional rotation of a shifting screw engaged with a centerpiece assembly. In general, the dry traction apparatus may be either of the single disk or double disk type (including modifications thereof). The motor drive shaft is co-axially aligned and coupled with the shifting screw, and includes a particular thrust bearing arrangement which accepts axial thrust in either direction generated by rotational operation of such motor. A limit switch mechanism, including a spring-loaded limit switch actuation element, also automatically controls motor operation by responding to controlled shifting of the centerpiece element. A protective shear pin and a torque arm arrangement further facilitate co-axial coupling of the motor with the shifting screw.
