Abstract: On-chip wireless links offer improved network performance due to long distance communication, additional bandwidth, and broadcasting capabilities of antennas. A Through-Silicon Via (TSV)-based antenna design called TSV_A establishes multi-band wireless communication through the silicon substrate medium with only a 3 dB loss over a 30 mm on-chip distance. Simulation results show an improvement in network latency up to ˜13% (average improvement of ˜7%), energy-delay improvements of ˜34% on average, and an improvement in throughput up to ˜34% (average improvement).

Abstract: Embodiments include multi-function electronic payment card and device systems capable of generating a programmed magnetic field of alternating polarity based on a speed of a card swipe, and methods for constructing the device for the purpose of emulating a standard credit card. An apparatus is described to allow the device to emulate behavior of a credit card when used in electronic credit card readers. Additionally methods are described to allow user control of the device for the purpose of authorizing or controlling use of the device in the application of credit, debit and cash transactions, including cryptocurrency and card-to-card transactions. Methods are also described for generating a limited-duration credit card number when performing a transaction for the purpose of creating a limited-use credit card number, which is limited in scope of use to a predetermined number of authorized transactions.
Abstract: In embodiments of systems and methods for enabling voting by a controlled-environment (e.g., correctional) facility resident (e.g., incarcerated individual), a controlled-environment facility management system, or the like, may determine federal, state and/or local laws and/or rules concerning the resident's legal right to vote and determine whether the resident is registered to vote in a jurisdiction in which the resident is deemed to reside, with respect to the resident's right to vote in the jurisdiction. In response to a determination that the resident is not registered to vote in that jurisdiction, the facility management system, or the like, may provide documents required for the resident to register to vote, to the resident, for completion and/or execution. The facility management system, or the like, may file, in the jurisdiction in which the resident is deemed to reside, resident-executed documents required for the resident to register to vote.

Abstract: A recessed downlight fixture and method for installation is provided. The recessed downlight fixture can be installed in a retrofit application, after a ceiling is installed, through a pre-existing opening in that ceiling. Alternatively, a recessed downlight fixture according to a second embodiment can be installed before a ceiling is present. In either embodiment, the light source coupled to, for example, a heat sink, can be universally moved in three degrees of movement, rotationally, along a tilt axis, or further within the ceiling to increase or decrease the recess. All such universal adjustments can take place through and below the ceiling opening during or after installation.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to wireless sensor networks installation, deployment, maintenance, and operation. A distributed network of wireless tags enable a wide variety of different indoor and outdoor applications to be implemented, including asset finding, workflow automation, and internet-of-things applications. The physical premises environment may be any location in which there are persons, places or things to be monitored, tracked, sensed, or inventoried, or other defined space. The distributed network of wireless tags is associated with a wireless client device that enables a customer to configure and retrieve status data, event data, and sensor data from wireless tags and other components in the physical premises environment. Embodiments utilize different types of network nodes to collect data from the physical premises environment. Examples of the types of data that may be collected by the wireless tags include asset status information, event data, and sensor data.

Abstract: A system and method for hands-free stock picking using radio frequency identification (“RFID”) includes a fixed RFID reader configured to interrogate RFID tags associated with inventory that is disposed on shelving, and an RFID barrier that is configured to substantially inhibit interrogation of RFID tags associated with active inventory on the shelving. The RFID reader receives responses from the replenishment inventory on the shelving which are tabulated. When an item is picked from the active inventory and moved away from the RFID barrier, the RFID reader receives an increased number of responses for that item compared to the tabulated inventory. The system then associates the picked item with the associated customer order.

Abstract: An automated teller machine (“ATM”) is described. The ATM can be provided with an interface area which includes a display unit and one or more sensors. The display unit can move relative to the interface area so that the display is better accessible for a user of the ATM. For example, the display can make translational or rotational movements, e.g., telescoping movements. The ATM can include a sensor which can detect an object, a location for the object and a distance from the object. Using this information, the ATM can move or guide the display in a direction which makes the display more accessible for the user.
