A backing material attached to the adhesive on the rear face of the label is removable to expose the adhesive for affixing the label to the baggage. The key fob has a design thereon matching the design on the label.

Abstract: An ATM includes plural user interfaces. Each user interface is vertically arranged at a different height. The user interfaces include identical input devices, but share a common currency dispenser. The ATM can receive a cash withdrawal request from an ATM user at any of the user interfaces. The ATM can carry out a cash withdrawal transaction that was requested at a particular user interface, including the dispense of cash, independent from any other user interface. The ATM can also accept deposits. Each user interface includes a slot sized to receive an envelope deposit therethrough. The ATM is located adjacent a vehicle drive-up lane. The different user interface heights respectively correspond to different vehicle heights, which enables an ATM user to select the closest user interface based on vehicle height.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a radio frequency identification device implemented with a metal-gate semiconductor fabrication process, wherein the charge capacitor, which is formed by the special parasitic N-type and P-type guard rings in the chip fabricated with the metal-gate process, incorporated with the original P-type and N-type transistors of metal oxide semiconductor (PMOS/NMOS) not only can provide a horizontal surface current but also can provide a rectified current for the performance of the entire circuit, which can advance the metal gate process to RFID industry in cooperation with an identification code holder circuit and a non-synchronous local oscillation circuit so that the fabrication cost can be lowered and the fabrication time can be shortened.

Abstract: A copy-resistant coupon including a human-readable section with text formed by reflective areas and dark-colored areas, and a machine-readable bar code section composed of reflective bars appearing in a light-colored background. Photosensitive devices used in copiers and bar code scanners interpret the reflective areas as dark, such that the reflective bars in the bar code stand out as dark in high contrast to their light-colored background, and are easily readable by the bar code scanner, while the human-readable section when copied will show reflective areas and dark-colored areas both as dark with little or no contrast between them and revealing that copying has taken place. The coupons are made with printing methods that apply dark- and light-colored inks to metallicized paper, or apply metallic inks to dark- or light-colored surfaces of papers.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for applying unique composite indicia or markings to a succession of articles, in which each unique composite indicium comprises two or more indicia. At least part of each of the indicia may be co-located at a predetermined location on the article with such co-location being unique or distinct for each composite indicium for each article. The indicium may be overprinted with one or more images, logos or color-schemes. A code (e.g. an alphanumeric string) that is stored in a database may be derived from the composite indicium from one or more mathematical properties. The code may be later accessed for identifying or verifying the article with the indicium.

Abstract: An information providing or processing system and method is disclosed which can provide information conforming to liking of a user to the user. If the user brings a contactless IC card, in which a user ID of the user is stored, close to a contactless IC tag mounted on a favorite commodity in a selling agent, then the contactless IC card acquires and stores a commodity ID stored in the contactless IC tag. Then, if the user brings the contactless IC card close to an information providing apparatus, then the information providing apparatus acquires the user ID and the commodity ID from the contactless IC card. Thereafter, the information providing apparatus acquires user information corresponding to the user ID from a customer information management server and acquires commodity information corresponding to the commodity ID from a commodity information management server. Then, the information providing apparatus produces and displays provision information conforming to the liking of the user.

Abstract: An arrangement for determining light beam position in an electro-optical reader, image projector and like devices includes a drive for moving a scanning light beam at a scan frequency across a target as a scan line, and an electro-optical feedback assembly operatively connected to the drive, for optically detecting scan line position during beam movement, and for generating a feedback signal at the scan frequency, the feedback signal being indicative of the scan line position. A feedback coil in the drive is eliminated to avoid electromagnetic coupling between multiple coils in the drive.

Abstract: A shopping environment process includes determining when a shopper is in proximity to an item by detecting a wireless transmission from a shopper device associated with the shopper. A purchase price of the item is determined based in part on the identity of the shopper. A graphical interface of a shelving device associated with the item then displays the purchase price. The interface enables the shopper to purchase the item. The item is then included in a virtual shopping cart associated with the user if the user purchases the item. The shopper device may include a card reader enabling the shopper to associate with the shopper device by swiping a loyalty card. The shelving device can communicate with a customer database server by sending a wireless communication to an intermediate shelving device and transmitting the communication from the intermediate shelving device to a repeater device connected to a wired network.

The method can include receiving one or more requests from given viewers related to obtaining instance of entertainment media for viewing, and identifying given ones of the viewers. One or more additional data elements relating to a given viewer are obtaining using, at least in part, the data identifying the given viewer. One or more items to be offered to the given viewer are selected based at least in part on analysis of the additional data element. Data representing the offered item is then encoding onto a given instance of the machine-readable entertainment medium and the medium is then presented to the viewer. Abstract: Methods according to the invention include accepting e-check data input from a payer, parsing the data to determine the bank routing number and the ostensible checking account number, determining the correct number of checking account digits based on the bank routing number, determining whether the ostensible checking account number has the correct number of digits, and prompting the payer to re-enter the checking account number with the correct number of digits if necessary. In addition, the methods include automatically pre-pending and/or appending zero digits where necessary to correct the number of digits in the checking account number. In cases where the payer includes the check number as part of the account number, the methods include removing the check number from the account number by prompting the payer to enter the check number so that it can be deleted from the account number.

Abstract: An insert-type barcode reader has a body support with an insertion slot for receiving a card with barcode. A circuit board and a CIS component module electrically connected to the circuit board with each mounted to the body support to scan and process signals. A roller is mounted to the body support for movement relative to the CIS component module to allow the card to be properly guided into the insertion slot and tightly pressed onto the CIS component for accurate scanning of the barcode on the card. Two photoelectric sensors mounted to the body support are electrically connected to the circuit board for sensing the card entering and leaving the insertion slot to control starting, running and stopping of the scanning function of the CIS component module.

A rotation radius includes a distance from the spindle pin to the stopper configuration being gradually increased from one end of the stopper configuration to another end to increase locking force by contact with the card medium.

Rotation of a rotatable knob (372, 382) or other movable item causes the output of user selectable characters, transaction types and/or amounts corresponding to each respective position. The user selects the audible output produced in the current position of the knob for receipt by the machine as a transaction input by pressing on the knob. Characters and other selectable inputs corresponding to knob positions can be varied by the computer in the machine to reduce the risk of a criminal intercepting the user's inputs to the machine.

Abstract: A method, secure cell phone and system for securely accessing an automated banking machine using such secure cell phone. The secure cell phone includes a read only memory device in combination with two linear feedback shift registers for generating a unique security transaction code, which includes a cell phone identification concatenated with two pseudo random codes. The automated banking machine is called from the cell phone. One of the pseudo random codes is input into a software emulation of the cell phone circuitry running on the automated banking machine to generate a computed pseudo random code. This computed code is concatenated the input pseudo random code and a determined cell phone identification to generate a computed transaction code. The automated banking machine is securely accessed using the secure cell phone if the computed transaction code matches the unique security transaction code.

Abstract: For operation of contact-less identification media in a system with contact applications for contact cards, an initialized converter module is connected in series as a read/write station. This converter module, on the one hand, executes a contact-less communication with initialized contact-less identification media and, on the other hand, a contact communication at a contact card interface to a host computer or to an application computer for the communication with a contact application of the system and the converter module translates the contact-less communication with respect to communication rules and information into a contact communication with contact information and vice versa and the initialization of the converter module is defined in a hierarchic authorization system.
