  • Patent number: 9589262
Abstract: A mobile checkout system and method for completing a purchase transaction to purchase items from an internet merchant. A user browses and selects items for purchase from the merchant through a shopping application or browser (mobile or PC). During the processing of the transaction, a checkout application installed on a mobile communication device is launched. The checkout application receives a checkout token created by a checkout server that identifies the purchase transaction. After user authentication, the system uses this token and communicates with the checkout server to cause the checkout server to complete the purchase transaction, in which payment data is securely transmitted and wherein a one-time-use cryptogram can be part of the payment information.

  • Patent number: 9576237
Abstract: An RFID transponder device has antenna terminals for coupling an antenna system to the device. A transmitter and a receiver are coupled to the antenna terminals. The device has at least one damping resistance connected to at least one of the antenna terminals. The at least one damping resistance is connected, depending on a voltage swing at the antenna terminals during a transmission burst period, either together with a serially connected switch in parallel to the antenna terminals that are coupled to the receiver, or together with a parallel connected switch between one of the antenna terminals and a terminal of the transmitter. A damping control is configured to activate the at least one damping resistance during a damping period after the transmission burst period by controlling the respective switch.

  • Patent number: 9576278
Abstract: A banking system that utilizes metrics in acquiring and processing event data related to financial transaction activity at a plurality of automated banking machines. Automated banking machine include sensors able to detect event data during a transaction. The event data can include transaction data related to the type of transaction, time analysis data related to duration of the transaction, and operational data related to machine components used in carrying out the transaction. The event data for automated banking machines can be obtained, analyzed, and stored. Statistical averages associated with the banking system machines can be determined in real time. The averages allow a respective machine to be compared to other machines with respect to operational efficiency. An alert can be issued concerning a statistical anomaly regarding the respective machine.

  • Patent number: 9576166
Abstract: Improved methods, non-transient computer readable media, and apparatus are described for automatically quantifying space within a container using a scanning sensor node disposed within the container and exposed to scan the space from above the space. For example, a general method involves detecting an initiating condition from within the container using an activation sensor on the scanning sensor node. The initiating condition reflects at least an anticipated change within the container (such as an opening of the container, movement, ceased movement, loading/unloading operation, or closing of the container). In response to the activation sensor driven detection of the initiating condition, the scanning sensor node captures a snapshot scan of the space within the container from above the space and within the container and stores the snapshot scan within a memory of the scanning sensor node.

  • Patent number: 9569749
Abstract: The present invention discloses a computer-implemented method for inventory management system including a plurality of products associated with Quick Reference (QR) codes. The method scans the QR code of a product via a scanning device being operated by a user. The method then receives an input code from the user for the corresponding QR code. The user input code is stored in a relational database and associated with the QR code in the inventory management system. The association of the user input code with QR code enables the user to locate various products in the inventory by searching with the user input code rather than the QR code. The user generated input code can be shared with other devises utilizing the same application.

  • Patent number: 9569713
Abstract: To provide a semiconductor device that is capable of displaying data even when a radio signal is not supplied. The semiconductor device includes an antenna, a battery, a sensor, a nonvolatile memory, a first circuit, and a second circuit. Power supplied from the antenna is converted into first power via the first circuit. The battery stores the first power and supplies second power. The sensor performs sensing with the second power. The nonvolatile memory stores analog data acquired by the sensor. The second power is used to store the analog data. The second circuit converts the analog data into digital data with the use of the first power. The nonvolatile memory preferably includes an oxide semiconductor transistor.

  • Patent number: 9569653
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing machine-readable symbol readers that make reading difficult direct part marks simple for a user. A dark field illuminator may generate grazing incidence radiation (e.g., less than 45 degrees, less than 30 degrees, less than 20 degrees) in a plane which is tilted with respect to a plane which is normal to an optical axis of the machine-readable symbol reader. Such configuration provides a reading system which is relatively less affected by unwanted scattering caused by irregularities of a surface marked with a machine-readable symbol. Generally, during use users attempt to scan a machine-readable symbol by positioning the front end of the machine-readable symbol reader “head on” or parallel to the marked surface. By providing a front end which is tilted at an angle other than perpendicular with respect to the optical axis, the user is automatically guided to scan machine-readable symbols at an optimum angle.

  • Patent number: 9542637
Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) transponder may include a substrate and a device. The substrate may be in communication with a controller and an antenna, and the antenna is arranged to receive radio frequency signals. A first side surface of the substrate may include a capacitor. The device may be detachably coupled with the substrate via a conductive member positioned between the structure and the capacitor of the substrate, and the conductive member may be within a desired proximity of the capacitor. The structure may be attached to an attachment surface so that an attachment strength between the structure and the attachment surface may be greater than a force required to decouple the structure from the substrate. When the structure is decoupled from the substrate, the conductive member separates from the capacitor, disabling the transponder.

  • Patent number: 9524516
Abstract: Techniques for performing dynamic cost per unit resource usage in a virtual data center are described. In one example embodiment, an initial unit resource usage price is received for the virtual data center for a first cycle. Further, capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) information of the virtual data center of the first cycle is obtained. Furthermore, a target return on investment (ROI) for the virtual data center for a second cycle is received. A unit resource usage price is then computed for the second cycle using the received initial unit resource usage price for the first cycle and the CAPEX and OPEX information of the first cycle. The unit resource usage price is then dynamically calibrated for the second cycle using the computed unit resource usage price and the target ROI.
