    Abstract: A method for alternately operating an inkjet printing machine applying a plurality of inks to a printing material in accordance with a print image, includes conveying the printing material at a conveying speed. A switch is made between the following two modes, a 1st mode of printing an n-color first print job at a first conveying speed and at a print resolution using n inks, i.e. using black ink and n?1 different chromatic inks; and a 2nd mode of printing a reduced-color second print job at a second conveying speed greater than the first conveying speed and at the same print resolution using the n inks. The printing speed and thus the number of prints produced per unit of time in a machine can therefore advantageously be increased.

    Abstract: A wipe unit of the present disclosure includes a wiper, a wiper carriage, a wiper fixing member and a recovery tray. The recovery tray is arranged below the wiper, and includes a tray surface that recovers the ink wiped off with the wiper. The tray surface is inclined with respect to a horizontal plane, and makes the recovered ink flow in a predetermined direction so as to collect the recovered ink. The wiping portion is formed with the wiper and the wiper fixing member, and the wiping portion includes an ink drop portion which drops the ink wiped off with the wiper to the tray surface. The ink drop portion is formed such that the length thereof in a width direction orthogonal to the wiping direction is reduced as the ink drop portion is extended downward.

The method includes modifying character pixels in image data used to generate firing signals for operating inkjets in a print head of an inkjet imaging device, generating firing signals for operating the inkjets from the modified character pixels, and operating the inkjets in the print head with the generated firing signals to eject drops of non-absorbing media ink onto non-absorbing media to form characters on the non-absorbing media. The character pixel modification reduces a number of character pixels in a connecting zone of a character that have a value that corresponds to a firing signal that activates an inkjet.

Based on a difference between the estimated detected temperature and the environment temperature, a correction value of the detected temperature of the diode sensor 17 is set.
