Abstract: The present invention uses invisible junctions which are a set of local features unique to every page of the electronic document to match the captured image to a part of an electronic document. The present invention includes: an image capture device, a feature extraction and recognition system and database. When an electronic document is printed, the feature extraction and recognition system captures an image of the document page. The features in the captured image are then extracted, indexed and stored in the database. Given a query image, usually a small patch of some document page captured by a low resolution image capture device, the features in the query image are extracted and compared against those stored in the database to identify the query image. The present invention also includes methods for recognizing and tracking the viewing region and look at point corresponding to the input query image.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an interface for an electronic or computing device. In one embodiment, the invention includes a keyboard positioned adjacent to the posterior side of the computing device in such a way that the user can operate the device in an easy and convenient manner, while at the same time maximizing the amount of available display space to the user viewing the anterior side of the device. In this embodiment the user operates the keyboard while it is hidden from view behind the display. The invention also provides several mechanisms that allow the user to become familiar with this approach to operating the device, some of which are applicable to the improvement of standard keyboards for many common purposes and uses. These mechanisms include, but are not limited to, appropriately spaced keys, chorded keyboards, tactile feedback mechanisms, and key indication, selection and verification methods.

Image files P11 and P12 are captured reproduced images. A display frame SC displays a currently captured picture of an object, files P11 and P12, and the icon of the folder F1. To switch the folder F1 to a folder F2, the user presses a down button of a cross key 27. When the user presses the down button on the screen ST1, the screen ST1 is switched to a screen ST3 through a screen ST2. On the screen ST2, the number denoted in the icon is changed. The screen ST2 displays a state of which the folders are being switched. An icon displayed on the screen ST3 indicates that the folder F1 was switched to the folder F2.

Abstract: This invention involves a system and method to construct a visual representation of multidimensional data that works especially well for video. The system comprises an application on a mobile device having a screen, an assignment module assigning the media segments to the screen, a rendering module rendering the assigned media segments on the screen, a playback module playing the assigned media segments, a catalog module representing media metadata about the mobile content, a summarization module stewarding the media metadata, and a remote server storing the mobile content and the media metadata. The application retrieves the mobile content from the remote server and accesses the assignment, the rendering, the playback, the catalog, and the summarization modules. The system also comprises a method to log and analyze the browsing interactions of one or more users, and present a view of the media that reflects what is interesting to the user.

Abstract: A system, to maintain a user interface context receives a request for a first user interface element that is hidden from view on a user interface. The request causes the system to integrate the first user interface element into the user interface by regenerating the user interface to accommodate the first user interface element while maintaining the user interface context.

The system parses a current web page to generate information about the web pages pointed to by the selected links in the current web page. A number of the selected links and the number of script commands is counted and information about each of the web pages pointed to by the selected links is obtained. Script commands are used for downloading the web pages pointed to by the selected links. The system also switching to a next page of the current web page if the current web page comprises two or more pages, and if the number of the script commands equals the number of the selected links.

When the platform receives a login that identifies a user as having access rights to the account, the platform displays a view that includes a window displaying data relating to the order and a toolbar in a standardized location relative to the window. The toolbar includes a tab. When the user clicks on the tab, the platform displays a tabbed window that includes a list of the informational messages, regardless of whether an informational message on the list has been read or dismissed by another user allowed access to the account. The platform locates the window contiguous to the toolbar over some but not all of the view displaying the data relating to the order.

One or more rules are retrieved for the first configurable element, wherein at least one of the rules describes a second configurable element that is related to the first configurable element. The one or more rules are used to identify context-based user assistance content for configuring at least one of the first configurable element and the second configurable element. The user assistance content is provided to the user.

Abstract: A user interface to an application processing complex data of multiple data view abstractions allows selection, placement, size and other configurable characteristics of interface components to be controlled by a user and then associated with the data abstraction and processing task. Multiple configurations may be created to simplify the interface to include only necessary controls given an abstraction level of the data view and the task on that data. The configurations may be stored using symbolic references and subsequently loaded on demand into the interface. Mechanisms may be applied to ensure that similarly referenced configurations in storage are resolved and only the desired configuration is applied.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for attracting the attention of people in public places and engaging them in a touch-free interaction with a multimedia display using an image-capturing system and a set of Computer Vision algorithms as a means of informing the public as well as collecting data about/from the users. The invention is named, Virtual Touch Entertainment (VTE) Platform. The VTE Platform comprises of a series of interaction states, such as the Wait State, the Attraction State, the User Engagement State, the User Interaction State, and the Interaction Termination State. The modules in these interaction states handle complicated tasks assigned to them, such as attracting the users, training the users, providing the multimedia digital content to the users, and collecting the user data and statistics, in an efficient and intelligent manner.

Abstract: A method for increasing ease-of-use of a touch screen application by dynamically resizing touch screen input areas is disclosed. The touch screen application includes a user interface that displays one or more touch screen input areas. Each of the touch screen input areas include a viewable area and a clickable area, wherein a user's touch of the clickable area activates the corresponding touch screen input area. Aspects of the present invention include collecting coordinates of touches on the display in response to user interaction, and analyzing the touch coordinates to determine how often the user has missed the input areas. In response to the number of missed touches reaching a predetermined threshold, both the size of the viewable area and the clickable area of at least one of the input areas, and possibly all areas of a similar size or type, are increased so that the input areas will be easier to touch.
