  • Patent number: 6160903
Abstract: A method of providing secure user access for doorways and network computer systems is disclosed. An overall system security level is provided. A user provides biometric information that is compared against stored biometric information of each of a plurality of users to identify the individual. When the likelihood of a match is above the likelihood necessary for identification, the threshold for that user is increased. Optionally, a threshold for another user is lowered in order to maintain a same system security level. When biometric information provided to the system is consistent, the stored template is automatically updated.

  • Patent number: 6144760
Abstract: An initial hash database is generated by giving hash indices to drawing data of drawing patterns that are obtained by performing calculation processing on exposure data relating to layout-designed exposure data. Then, drawing data of a target drawing pattern is extracted by searching the hash database, and the extracted drawing data is subjected to a proximity effect correction. Then, a new hash database is generated by giving hash indices to the corrected drawing data. As a result, the data retrieval time is greatly shortened and the amount of corrected data is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6134340
Abstract: A device, and a method for its operation, for verifying a person's identity by comparing in a correlator (18) selected features of a reference fingerprint image, generated in a sensor (10) from the fingerprint of a person of known identity, with a subject fingerprint image taken from a person whose identity is to be verified. In an enrollment procedure, a fingerprint from a person of known identity is analyzed in an enrollment processor (14) to locate multiple reference patches that together are distinctive to that person's fingerprint. The reference patch images are stored, together with their locations in the image, in a reference image storage unit (16). When a subject fingerprint image is later provided, every reference patch is compared with every possible patch of similar size in the subject image, to find a set of candidate match locations in the subject image.

  • Patent number: 6108439
Abstract: An ultrasound image processing system, having an ultrasound image capture device such as a B-mode ultrasound probe capable of making 2D scans over a predetermined range, and a drive for moving an ultrasound transducer in a direction different from the direction of 2D scans by the transducer to capture 2D ultrasound images sequentially in a predetermined pitch in the direction of movement of the ultrasound transducer. The ultrasound image processing system is provided with a marker for inserting a marker sign on field images selected from a large number of 2D ultrasound images sequentially captured by the image capture device, for use in three-dimensional image processing in a subsequent stage.

  • Patent number: 6081342
Abstract: A request condition managing table is provided to a request-sender digital copying machine. For example, when the request-sender digital copying machine is reset to a predetermined condition, the PCU of the request-sender digital copying machine outputs a clear signal to a request-receiver digital copying machine through a transmitting apparatus, so that the image data stored therein on behalf of the request-sender digital copying machine are cleared. Alternatively, the operator can erase such image data manually by checking the request condition managing table. In this manner, when the image data read by the request-sender image forming apparatus and stored temporarily in the request-receiver image forming apparatus become useless, the request-sender image forming apparatus so notifies the request-receiver image forming apparatus and directs the same to erase the image data, thereby preventing the request-receiver image forming apparatus from storing useless image data over a long period.

  • Patent number: 6069966
Abstract: Method and apparatus for automotive tire condition and other article assessment is based upon radiation analysis of a rotated tire. Analysis of reflected radiation on the basis of intensity sensing provides a measure of tread depth and sidewall profile, together with tread location and other data. By positional analysis of the tread depth locations there is provided complementary information on the tread wear pattern. Sidewall profile determination enables identification of other tire condition factors. Tread depth and sidewall profile are also determined by laser or other radiation line image displacement techniques and a mounting system is provided for the apparatus enabling determinations to be made without the use of a roller bed. Proper positional alignment of the wheel to the apparatus is determined by means of a reference datum derived from reflected radiation within the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5936745
Abstract: A method and apparatus for converting a resolution of a document to be transmitted at a high rate is disclosed. Horizontal converting section reduces or magnifies an input signal in accordance with the horizontal resolution specified by both a conversion magnification signal and a reduction/magnification mode signal in response to reference clock signals, and provides a horizontal conversion signal horizontally converted and a horizontal dot signal. Vertical converting section reduces or magnifies the horizontal conversion signal from the horizontal converting section in accordance with the vertical resolution specified by the conversion magnification signal on the basis of a line start signal, the conversion magnification signal and the mode signal, and provides a vertical conversion signal. Address generating section provides an address signal on the basis of the line start signal.

  • Patent number: 5926568
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for automatic image recognition of standard shapes which include a core-based deformable loci skeletal grid used to define and represent an object via a model template. The template includes deformable segments, the changes of which are measurable against the deformed model corresponding to an object in a subsequent image. Statistical correlation techniques optimize the match to further refine the shape of the subsequent image.
