  • Patent number: 10195353
Abstract: A pen-type injector is improved so that a user may select a delivery dose of a medicinal product from a multidose cartridge. The injector includes a housing, a cartridge containing the medicinal product retained within the housing, a piston rod, a dose selecting member to select the dose of medicinal product to be expelled, and a drive member to expel the selected dose of the medicinal product. The housing is formed unitary so that the dose selecting member and the drive member are moveably retained within the housing. The injector may include a ratchet associated with an insert to ensure the piston rod only rotates in a single direction through the insert, a button located on the drive member, and a clutch which upon depression of the button prevents rotation between the dose selecting member and the drive member.

  • Patent number: 10112014
Abstract: A syringe assembly having a flexible and/or slidable flange is provided, wherein in a pre-use or packaged state, the flange is positioned substantially parallel to a barrel of the syringe assembly resulting in the syringe assembly having a smaller packaging footprint. The smaller packaging footprint allows for a reduced storage space of the syringe assembly. Upon removal from a packaging and/or the storage space, the flange can be slid and locked into place such that the flange extends in a perpendicular direction with respect to a longitudinal axis of the barrel of the syringe assembly to allow for a traditional operation of the syringe assembly.

  • Patent number: 9993367
Abstract: The invention is a retinal implant device to stimulate a retina of an eye thereby producing a specific effect in the eye, such as a vision or drug treatment of a chronic condition. The retinal device is made of a retinal implant that is positioned subretinally and that contains a multitude of stimulation sites that are in contact with the retina. A connection carries a stimulating electrical signal or a drug. The connection passes transretinally through the retina and into a vitreous cavity of the eye, thereby minimizing damage to a nutrient-rich choroid. A lead is attached to a source of drugs or electrical energy, which is located outside the eye. The lead passes through a sclera at a point near a front of the eye to avoid damage to the retina.

  • Patent number: 9987410
Abstract: A medical infusion fluid handling system, such as an automated peritoneal dialysis system, may be arranged to de-cap and connect one or more lines (such as solution lines) with one or more spikes or other connection ports on a fluid handling cassette. This feature may reduce a likelihood of contamination since no human interaction is required to de-cap and connect the one or more lines and the one or more spikes. For example, the automated peritoneal dialysis system may include a carriage arranged to receive the one or more lines each having a connector end and a cap. The carriage may move along a first direction so as to move the connector ends of the one or more lines along the first direction, and a cap stripper may be arranged to engage with the caps on the one or more lines on the carriage. The cap stripper may move in a second direction transverse to the first direction, as well as to move with the carriage along the first direction.
