The squeezable food product includes a first food component forming a base component and a second food component forming a filling component. The first food component and the second food component form a combinable food product upon consumption having sensory and nutritive properties close to a solid metal. The packaging unit is a supple pouch having a main external squeezable body and at least one partition layer which divides the squeezable body into at least two separate cavities. The first and second food components are separately stored in different cavities. On extrusion and recombination, the two food components are perceivable as two different components.

    Abstract: A system for continuous pasteurizing of liquid foods is provided which includes the ability to clean the pasteurizing system in place without the need for manual connection and disconnection of piping. The system includes a supply of liquid food product, a source of water, a heat exchanger section for heating the liquid food product, a balance tank for maintaining desired flow to the heat exchanger during fluctuations in demand, and at least one mixproof valve connected to the water source and liquid food supply for delivering one or the other, without risk of intermixing, upstream of the balance tank. The system also discloses the use of a mixproof valve for delivering clean in place solution to the balance tank while preventing the flow of liquid food into the clean in place solution source.

    Abstract: An expandable microwave popcorn package which contains a charge of popcorn kernels suitable for preparation in a microwave oven. The package is formed of front and back panels preferably joined together at the top and bottom ends and at the sides by side panels. The back panel includes two or more sections which are joined along slightly overlapping edges and bonded together by a releasable adhesive, thereby forming lap seam(s). Conversion of the package into a serving vessel is made possible by the releasable nature of the adhesive which allows the lap seam(s) to be disengaged after the popping process is complete. Thus the back panel sections can be detached, and possibly removed, to expose the popcorn within the package. Ideally the heat and steam created by the popping process will diminish the bonding strength of the releasable adhesive thereby enhancing the conversion.
