  • Patent number: 9185173
Abstract: It is described a concept for a service composition which can be carried out in a telecommunication network (100). The described service composition is optimized in view of a composite service execution in a mobile network device (110) having limited resources. According to the described concept, at least one code required for executing the composite service is downloaded from a code storage node (130) to a composition execution agent (112) in response to receiving a corresponding instruction from a service composition node (120), that the service should be composed and/or executed. The actual code to be executed within the network device (110) is selected in response to receiving a service composition command from the service composition node (120). The code selection may take into account local constraints available for the network device (110).

  • Patent number: 9179318
Abstract: A method of handling mobility-related signalling in a communications system comprising a mobile node, a mobile router, and a peer node. The method comprises providing the mobile router with a delegation certificate that is cryptographically signed by or on behalf of the mobile node. At the mobile router, a mobility-related signalling exchange is initiated with the peer node on behalf of the mobile node, the mobile router providing to the peer node within this exchange, said delegation certificate or an identification of the certificate, and a sequence number associated with the certificate. At the peer node, the received sequence number is compared with a sequence number maintained by the peer node in respect of the delegation certificate, and the exchange authorized in dependence upon the result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 9178922
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a provider network configured to redirect multimedia content between receiver devices associated with a user. A first multimedia stream representative of the multimedia content is transmitted to a first receiver device associated with the user. In response to detecting a triggering event corresponding to an occurrence of a monitored condition, a second multimedia stream representative of the multimedia content is transcoded and a redirection process is initiated to redirect transmission of the transcoded second media stream. The multimedia content is streamed to a second receiver device associated with the user based on a user-specified redirection rule. Transmitting of the first multimedia stream is halted in response to initiation of transmission of the transcoded second stream and a listing of receiver devices associated with the user is established for redirecting the multimedia content.

  • Patent number: 9179389
Abstract: A radio terminal (10) includes: an MIH user (14) for managing mobility from a first network to a second network; and an MIH function unit (13) for controlling handover from the first network to the second network. The MIH function unit (13) notifies a link control unit (12) of a condition setting request including a first judgment local formula as a condition for starting setting of the second network and the radio link and a second judgment logical formula as a condition executing a handover from the first network to the second network. The first judgment logical formula and the second judgment logical formula indicates a combination of threshold values to be satisfied by a plurality of radio parameters in the first network and the established radio link.

  • Patent number: 9173224
Abstract: A system and methods are provided to enable differentiated association of stations (STAs) in a WiFi system and provide differentiated quality of service (QoS) based association. The embodiments include categorizing STAs that share a channel of the WiFi network into different association priority classes, wherein the STAs with higher association priority classes wait for shorter times before starting association with an access point (AP) over the shared channel. The association priority classes are assigned by the AP or the WiFi network and signaled to the STAs. Alternatively, the association priority classes are assigned by the STAs and indicated to the AP or the WiFi network. The association priority class is determined for a STA according to traffic type, device type, subscriber type, or a random number generator.

  • Patent number: 9164993
Abstract: A system and method for propagating media item recommendation messages on a media item recommendation system is disclosed. A first media item recommendation message comprising a media item identifier and presence information of a recommender is received from the recommender. The first media item recommendation message is sent to a first recipient. A second media item recommendation message comprising the presence information of the recommender adapted by the first recipient is received from the first recipient. The second media item recommendation message is then sent or forwarded to a second recipient. The first recipient may adapt the presence information by including the presence information of the recommender unmodified, by including the presence information of the recommender modified by the first recipient, and/or by including the presence information of the first recipient with or without the presence information of the recommender.

  • Patent number: 9167447
Abstract: A method of failure event reporting for initial connection setup failure is proposed. In one embodiment, a UE first camps in RRC_IDLE mode in a cell served by a base station. The UE then detects a connection setup failure when performing a random access channel (RACH) procedure with the base station in an RRC connection attempt. The UE records a failure event report when the RACH procedure fails. Later, the UE transmits the failure event report to the network in RRC_CONNECTED mode. The failure event report comprises information that refers to the earlier RRC connection attempt. The failure event report also comprises available location information or available mobility measurements at the time the initial connection setup failure occurs. Based on the failure event report, the network can adopt corrective actions accordingly to mitigate the failure.

  • Patent number: 9167295
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system are provided for providing content to a user. In some embodiments the content may be transmitted using a first transmission technique. In some embodiments, when the user “catches up to” the content as it is being received via the first transmission technique, a switch may be made to obtain the content via a second transmission technique, allowing reception of the content via the first transmission technique to be terminated. In some embodiments, a user equipment device may include a buffer that may be used to store the content received via the second transmission technique, which may support earlier termination with respect to receiving content via the first transmission technique. In some embodiments, the buffer may support a rewind operation.

  • Patent number: 9166658
Abstract: A wireless communication system in which a base station apparatus having a plurality of transmission antennas and one or more terminal apparatuses communicate with each other is provided with at least two methods of a first feedback method and a second feedback method regarding propagation path information at the time of reception. In accordance with a communication condition between the base station apparatus and the terminal apparatus, or the function of the terminal apparatus, the terminal apparatus performs feedback by one of the two methods of the first feedback method and the second feedback method. The base station apparatus performs spatial multiplexing transmission on the basis of the propagation path information that has been fed back. Thus, in a system in which CSI is fed back for MIMO transmission, desired transmission characteristics can be efficiently obtained.

  • Patent number: 9161181
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, in a case of using persistent scheduling, when detecting a transition from a talk state to a silent state, resources to be allocated during a silent state are allocated to a channel exclusive for silent period, and the resources which have been allocated to a mobile terminal during the talk spurt are released. Therefore, the useless allocation of resources can be reduced, and the throughput of the system can be improved.

  • Patent number: 9161343
Abstract: A method, system and device are provided for avoiding in-device coexistence interference between different radio technologies deployed in adjacent bands on the same device by controlling and separating the LTE signaling and the non-LTE signaling using dedicated time intervals to separate LTE signaling from non-LTE signaling. In addition, coexistence mode handover procedures are provided which use threshold-based triggering events to avoid coexistence interference and to prevent ping-pong effects by establishing a “keeping time” parameter so that a non-interfering network node does not switch back to an interfering network node after handoff.
