  • Patent number: 9544792
Abstract: A system and method for joint scheduling in a dual-carrier fixed wireless backhaul network is disclosed, wherein the primary carrier is a licensed band, and the secondary carrier is an unlicensed or lower cost shared carrier. The network comprises a plurality of Hub modules, each serving a cluster of one or more Remote backhaul modules (RBMs). A special frame structure and a control channel on the primary carrier carries control signalling messages for RBMs assigned to either the primary or secondary carrier. RBMs with a performance metric, such a spectral efficiency, above a threshold are assigned to the primary carrier. Other RBMs are assigned the secondary carrier, and a channel assignment is then performed. A transmission mode is determined based on instantaneous channel conditions, to optimize overall system performance across a network neighborhood and meet RBM quality of service requirements. A centralized server/processing unit coordinates dual carrier joint scheduling functions.

  • Patent number: 9532350
Abstract: Enhanced physical downlink control channel are multiplexed with physical downlink data channel in frequency division multiplexing (FDM), or in frequency division multiplexing (FDM)+time division multiplexing (TDM). FDM mode applies to users that have only UL grants in that subframe. UL grants of different users are cross-interleaved and transmitted over the entire physical resource blocks (both slots) in FDM. Frequency resources for cross-interleaved UL grants are distributed. TDM+FDM applies to users that have both DL and UL grants, or have only DL grant in that subframe. DL/UL grant (maybe mixed) is transmitted only in the first slot of physical resource blocks in TDM+FDM, where the second slots in those resource blocks can be used for those users' downlink data transmission.

  • Patent number: 9521029
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed herein for providing a bidirectional outage bypass for a hosted voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP) private branch exchange (PBX) system. An outage monitoring system is in communication with both the bidirectional bypass system and one or more bypass enablers that act at the direction of the bidirectional bypass system. The outage monitoring system detects outages and overloads, as well as, network failures between the VoIP PBX and the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The bidirectional bypass system, in response to detection of an outage, determines error-handling procedures for the bidirectional bypass based on bypass configuration data. The bypass enablers forward outgoing communications between a client device and the PSTN, in accordance the error-handling procedures, by bypassing components that are currently experiencing failures or overloads.

  • Patent number: 9516541
Abstract: Embodiments describe mechanisms for an eNB, possibly assisted by a UE, to detect and possibly alleviate user plane congestion. In some embodiments, the eNB implements UE assisted packet dropping, where the UE requests the eNB drop packets in a sub-QCI that meet designated criteria, such as exceeding a sub-QCI delay threshold. Other embodiments, detect periods of congestion and send congestion indication to the core network when the congestion period exceeds a threshold or when the user experience is degraded. Some embodiments implement both sets of functionality.

  • Patent number: 9438310
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide multiple cyclic prefix lengths for either both the data-payload and frame control header or only the data payload. Frame control header (FCH) and data symbols have an associated cyclic prefix. A table is transmitted in the FCH symbols, which includes a cyclic prefix field to identify the cyclic prefix length used in the data payload. A receiver may know the cyclic prefix length used in the FCH symbols in one embodiment. In other embodiments, the receiver does not know the FCH cyclic prefix length and, therefore, attempts to decode the FCH symbols using different possible cyclic prefix lengths until the FCH symbols are successfully decoded.
