  • Patent number: 8988217
Abstract: A method and system for configured one or more fire alarm system devices in a fire alarm system are disclosed. The fire alarm system includes the fire alarm system devices, a fire alarm panel, and a wireless handheld device. The fire alarm system devices communicate with the fire alarm panel via a first communications interface (such as a wired communications interface), and the wireless handheld device communicates with the fire alarm panel via a second communications interface (such as a wireless communications interface). In operation, the fire alarm control panel receives an indication from one of the fire alarm system devices of a user input. In response, the fire alarm panel sends a communication (such as a form) to the wireless handheld device. In response to the communication, the wireless handheld device sends a response to the fire alarm control panel (such as including information in the form).

  • Patent number: 8947206
Abstract: A method of enabling a wireless communication between a master unit and at least one sensor unit is executed within a frame, the sensor unit having an internal data sampling frequency and being adapted to store samples with corresponding sample sequence numbers. The sensor unit transmits an integrated value to the master unit. The master unit transmits, during a master unit portion of the frame, a data update request message comprising an initial sample sequence number from which integration by the at least one sensor unit has to be carried out. The sensor unit integrates the sample values from the initial sample sequence number to a current sample sequence number and then transmits the integrated sample value and the current sample sequence number. The master unit receives the integrated sample value and current sample sequence number and stores at least the current sample sequence number.

  • Patent number: 8896454
Abstract: To examine a contamination state of a worker having worked in a radiation controlled zone, a first unit detects contamination of a front or back surface of the worker and outputs a first signal indicating a contamination state of the surface. A second unit detects contamination of an arm's inner side surface of the worker and outputs a second signal indicating a contamination state of the arm's side surface. A third unit detects contamination of a trunk's side surface of the worker and outputs a third signal indicating a contamination state of the trunk's side surface. A processing unit detects the presence of contamination of the front or back surface and the armpit's both sides based on the outputted first signal, on the second signal output when the second unit moves up together with the third unit, and on the third signal output when the third unit moves up.

  • Patent number: 8854188
Abstract: In an inductively coupled radio frequency identification (RFID) system deployed in animal and livestock applications, reading system efficacy can be compromised by animal movement on, around, or near metal structures prone to producing sonic frequencies. Such is the case, for example, when a walk-by antenna is mounted at the entry door of a livestock transport trader, and animals transit on a metallic ramp and metallic trader floor. Associated with the observable acoustic noise are subtle disturbances in the magnetic field surrounding the antenna due to vibrating metal altering the reluctance of the antenna's magnetic field. This acoustic noise manifests itself as an electrical noise phenomenon that interferes with the signals of certain types of identification tags which rely on amplitude modulation.
