Abstract: [Problems] There are provided a device and a method for telephone countermeasure in using a telephone during driving which can automatically suppress communication of only a driver in a vehicle. [Means For Solving Problems] The device for telephone countermeasure includes a database (3), a driver judgment unit, and a mode switching unit. The database (3) contains driver face data (3-1) and a telephone number (3-2) of a mobile telephone (7) used by the driver for each of the drivers. The driver judgment unit identifies the current driver of the vehicle in the database (3) by the face authentication. The mode switching unit extracts the telephone number (3-2) of the mobile telephone (7) used by the identified driver from the database (3) and switches the mobile telephone (7) of the driver to a drive mode such as a message recording mode by using the telephone number.

  • Patent number: 7463866
Abstract: A system and method are provided for compensating for an I/Q mismatch of either a direct conversion transmitter or a direct conversion receiver based on known short training symbols of a Short Training Sequence (STS) of packets transmitted according to the IEEE 802.11a or 802.11g standard. To compensate for an I/Q mismatch of a direct conversion transmitter, a packet including the STS is transmitted. Due to the I/Q mismatch of the direct conversion transmitter, the transmitter distorts the packet to provide a distorted packet including a distorted STS. Based on one or more short training symbols of the distorted STS and a known ideal short training symbol, a distortion matrix is determined. Subsequent packets transmitted by the direct conversion transmitter are pre-distorted based on the distortion matrix. Compensation of the I/Q mismatch of a direct conversion receiver may be performed in a similar fashion.

  • Patent number: 7463870
Abstract: In a circuit for reception of signals which have been modulated onto electromagnetic waves, an antenna arrangement (11) having a variable resonant frequency, a tunable oscillator, a variable gain amplifier, an evaluation circuit (14) and a decoder (13) are provided. The evaluation circuit (14) is supplied with the control signals of the oscillator (VT) and of the amplifier (VAGC) and with an error rate signal (BER) from the decoder (13). The resonant frequency of the antenna arrangement (11) is varied as a function of the signals which are applied to the evaluation circuit (14), such that the resonant frequency of the antenna arrangement (11) is matched to the respective reception conditions. This makes it possible to compensate for changes in the reception conditions, such as those which are caused, for example, by people or objects in the vicinity of the antenna arrangement (11).

  • Patent number: 7457278
Abstract: The VoIP gateway in accordance with the present invention serves to send a connection request to either the IP network or the PSTN on the basis of the information stored in the VOIP gateway and the destination telephone number contained in the connection request as sent from the telephone terminal. Also, even if a connection request is decided to be sent to the IP network, the VOIP gateway sends the connection request to the PSTN when the IP network state judgment unit judges that the communication through the IP network is impossible. Furthermore, if a destination telephone number includes predetermined identification information, the VOIP gateway can forcibly send the connection request to the PSTN.

  • Patent number: 7450918
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a gain of a transceiving device in a terminal for a communication system is disclosed. A memory stores predetermined thresholds for level-by-level gain controlling. A signal intensity detector detects an intensity value of a received signal. Comparators compare the received signal intensity value with thresholds predetermined according to the current state. A state detector detects a gain level for the current state according to the comparison results provided from the comparators. A controller updates the current state according to the detected gain level, controls a gain of the transceiving device according to the updated current state, and sets thresholds corresponding to the updated current state in the comparators.

  • Patent number: 7440731
Abstract: A radio frequency (“RF”) power amplifier circuit as described herein is configured to detect and measure an output load mismatch and to adjust the operating characteristics of the RF power amplifier to reduce output signal distortion. The circuit includes a directional RF signal coupler that obtains a coupled reflected RF signal that is indicative of the output load mismatch. The coupled reflected RF signal is processed to generate one or more bias control signals for the RF power amplifier. In operation, a mismatch condition will result in a measurable coupled reflected RF signal and a corresponding reduction in output power from the RF power amplifier. Ultimately, the output power control mechanism strives to maintain the RF power amplifier within a linear operating range.

  • Patent number: 7440732
Abstract: A transmitter includes a first mixer to generate a first output signal by up-converting a first baseband signal having a first DC offset component. A second mixer generates a second output signal by up-converting a second baseband signal having a second DC offset component. The second output signal is subtracted from the first output signal to generate a transmitter output signal. The transmitter output signal includes a local oscillator (LO) leakage signal caused by the first and/or second DC offset components. A third mixer produces a third output signal by up-converting the first DC offset component. A fourth mixer produces a fourth output signal by up-converting the second DC offset component. The fourth output signal is subtracted from the third output signal to generate a LO leakage cancellation signal. The LO leakage cancellation signal is subtracted from the transmitter output signal, thereby reducing a power of the LO leakage signal.

  • Patent number: 7437132
Abstract: A receiving device includes a receiver circuit for outputting a received signal as a reception electric field intensity signal, an operation control circuit for controlling an operation of the receiver circuit, and an intermittent reception control circuit for outputting a periodic signal. A comparator circuit holds a first threshold indicating that the receiving device has entered a communication area and a second threshold indicating a start of a continuous electric field intensity measurement. If the reception electric field intensity signal is lower than the second threshold, the operation control circuit makes the receiver circuit perform intermittent operation. If the reception electric field intensity signal is equal to or higher than the second threshold, the operation control circuit makes the receiver circuit perform a continuous operation.
