  • Patent number: 7962350
Abstract: Methods and systems for promptly paying health care providers for rendered health care services. A medical technician operating a client computer establishes communication with a remote server. Using a claim form, the technician enters patient, insurance, and treatment information which is transmitted to the server to determine whether the claim is eligible for advance payment. If the claim is eligible, the server transmits claim information to an appropriate carrier for claim processing. The remote server also transmits claim information to a payment entity which requests from a financial entity that funds be credited to an operational account and a reserve account. The funds of the operational account are immediately accessible to the health care provider. The funds of the reserve account are debited for expenses. When the carrier finally processes the claim, any payment for the claim is deposited into the reserve account.

  • Patent number: 7925522
Abstract: Delivery of health information to a patient suffering from a chronic condition is personalized by displaying the health information directly on a customized image of a body. The patient's medical record, standards of care for the condition, prescribed treatments, and patient input are applied to a generalized health model of a disease to generate a personalized health model of the patient. The personalized health model comprises an HTML file encoding an image map of a body. The body image illustrates the health condition of the individual patient. Preferably, data is collected from health provider sources and stored in a database on a server at a service provider site. The data is processed at the server, and is displayed in the patient's home using a TV connected to a multimedia processor. The multimedia processor connects the television set to a communications network such as the Internet. Applications include preventive care of chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma.

  • Patent number: 7912734
Abstract: Apparatuses, computer media, and methods for supporting health needs of a consumer by processing input data. An integrated health management platform supports the management of healthcare by obtaining multi-dimensional input data for a consumer, determining a health-trajectory predictor from the multi-dimensional input data, identifying a target of opportunity for the consumer in accordance with the health-trajectory predictor, and offering the target of opportunity for the consumer. A health benefit plan is offered from a set of health benefit plan configurations. Responses from members of a consumer group are received that are responsive to a questionnaire and preferred health benefit plans chosen by members of the group are predicted. From the responses, an overall enrollment distribution is estimated. A plurality of health benefit plans is offered to the group when a minimum economic objective is obtained from the set of health benefit plan configurations.

  • Patent number: 7885828
Abstract: A system and method may generate a radiological request by which to conduct a radiological procedure that employs a series of procedural steps to acquire internal images of a patient. Each step may have a corresponding protocol item which affects image quality and the time required to complete the step. A database may be maintained that includes protocol items and patient characteristic data. A rule-based algorithm may accept patient characteristic data as input. Based upon one or more patient characteristics, an overall protocol by which to conduct the radiological procedure may be determined. The tailored protocol may include steps that are selected, omitted, and/or altered based upon a patient characteristic. The patient characteristics may be medical restrictions, such as age, pregnancy, allergies, artificial joints, or other limitations. As a result, the protocol items may be automatically selected based upon patient specific characteristics, and/or an anatomical structure to be examined.

  • Patent number: 7769597
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of holding laboratory test results in a computerized environment. The method receives a laboratory test result for a healthcare order for a patient. The healthcare order comprises multiple laboratory tests. The method determines whether all of the test results for the healthcare order have been received. If all of the test results for the healthcare order have not been received, the laboratory test result is held until all of the results for the healthcare order have been received. If all of the results for the healthcare order have been received, the method compares each test result of the healthcare order to predefined criteria to determine whether each test result for the healthcare order is within a predetermined acceptable range. If each of the test results for the healthcare order is within the acceptable range, the entire order is automatically verified.

  • Patent number: 7761310
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are used in monitoring patients, staff, assets and visitors at a facility, initiating a response to prevent or mitigate harm, and assess and ensure overall quality and performance, and refine individual patient, staff and visitor profiles. A plurality of sensors throughout the facility provide multiple data streams relating to the locations of patients relative to at least one of caregivers, assets, other patients, visitors or one or more fixed locations. A computer system analyses the data stream and determines the location and/or movements of the patients relative to the caregivers, assets, other patients, visitors and/or fixed locations. A profile containing individual data for the patient is used to accurately detect events, including actionable events, ensure completion of prescribed care, assess patient wellness, and, in some cases, provide tailored patient specific responses to detected events.

  • Patent number: 7725332
Abstract: A first group of individuals, including a first health care provider, is provided access to a first type of data concerning the patient under control of the access rules determined by the patient. A second group of individuals, including a second health care provider, is provided access to a second type of data concerning the patient under control of the access rules determined by the patient, the second type of data not identical to the first type of data. An indication of a threshold event relating to data about the patient is received, the threshold event determined by the patient. Occurrence of the threshold event is identified by comparing a numerical value, within a numerical range, indicative of degree of health with a threshold value indicative of the threshold event.
