Abstract: A computer processing method includes receiving network data; filtering a node with a degree higher than a predefined threshold in the network data; storing the filtered node and its neighborhood relationship; clustering the filtered network data to obtain primary group(s); and obtaining a final group based on the filtered node and its neighborhood relationship and the primary group(s). The computer processing method and a corresponding system can be applicable to the processing for network data of large scale, and reduce greatly the processing time for clustering the network data of large scale, and the invention can be implemented well in parallel.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for conforming text posted on a social networking Web site for posting on another social networking Web site. The method includes receiving text input by a user for posting on a first social networking Web site. The text is analyzed to identify topical and semantic attributes of the text that are extracted with natural language processing and semantic analysis, and then compared to a historical semantic communication style between the user and the intended recipients on one or more other target social networking Web sites. The text is then converted to have topical and semantic attributes for posting on the target social networking Web sites as appropriate for the user, recipient users and user groups, and the target Web sites.

Abstract: A method for promoting social network sharing of a content item is disclosed. The method includes determining whether actions of a user and statistics associated with a content item satisfy criteria to present a promotion to the user to share the content item on social networks, the promotion to be provided in a user interface (UI) presenting the content item and allowing the user to share the content item on the social networks, identifying, based on the actions of the user and the statistics associated with the content item, presentation characteristics to present the promotion, wherein the presentation characteristics comprise a location of the promotion in the UI and a position of playback of the content item, and selecting, based on a history of the user with each of the social networks, one or more of the social networks to include in the promotion.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for systems, devices and methods effective to monitor performance of a computing device. A computing device may receive a specified counting rate. The computing device may count at the specified counting rate to generate a sequence of counting numbers. The computing device may identify a first output of a process, such as results from computations performed on data, and may identify a first counting number when the first output is identified. The computing device may identify a second output of the process, such as additional results from the computations, and may identify a second counting number when the second output is identified. The computing device may then determine whether an alert should be generated based on the first and second counting numbers such as when a difference between the first and second counting numbers exceeds a threshold value.

Abstract: A method, Over-The-Top (OTT) content provider server, Content Delivery Network (CDN) Redirector server, and CDN delivery server for managing bandwidth while delivering electronic content utilizing OTT adaptive streaming to a plurality of client devices at a customer premises. The OTT content provider server receives client device priorities from a customer and stores in a customer profile, a device weighting for each of the plurality of client devices. The OTT content provider server also stores an indication of an available bandwidth of a premises connection at the customer premises. When each client device requests OTT content, a delivery server in a CDN allocates a bitrate for the requesting client device based on the available bandwidth for the premises connection and the device weighting of the requesting client device, and delivers the requested OTT content to the requesting client device at the allocated bitrate.

Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and systems for detecting unsolicited messages (i.e., spam) and preventing unsolicited messages from being sent. Certain embodiments provide analyzing dynamic information received as part of a request to generate a message. Parts or elements of the dynamic information such as sender, recipient and content are analyzed using filters and configurable constants to determine an abuse score indicative of the likelihood that the dynamic information may generate spam if included in an electronic message. A course of action may be followed dependent on the abuse score determined. For example, if the dynamic information is deemed not likely to generate spam, an electronic message from the information received is generated and sent. Certain embodiments allow implementation of the system and method in a distributed environment comprising of multiple systems or servers performing the same method.

Abstract: A device for providing multimedia data in a motor vehicle. At least one vehicle-internal hardware component serves to provide a first runtime environment for supporting at least one computer program application on the vehicle-internal hardware component. An interface serves for communication with at least one vehicle-external hardware component, which provides a second runtime environment for supporting the computer program application on the vehicle-external hardware component. Furthermore, either the vehicle-internal hardware component or the vehicle-external hardware component is selectable for executing the computer program application.

Abstract: In a connection setting information managing system which is configured to set connection setting information using a setting tool, wherein the connection setting information allows a network device connected to an IP network to perform a communication over the IP network, the system includes: a connection setting information storage unit configured to store the connection setting information therein, wherein the connection setting information comprises a tag name that is assigned to and is unique to the network device. The setting tool sets the connection setting information to the network device, based on the tag name that is unique to the network device.

Abstract: A technology for a client streaming content of a server is provided. The technology includes a service installed in the client that receives the content from the server instead of a media player, downloads the content in a cache having a larger capacity than a memory buffer of the media player, and then transfers data stored in the cache to the media player. Accordingly, even when the memory buffer is full, data reception from the server is not stopped, and thus power consumption of the server and the client may be reduced. Also, since a connection to the server is performed by the service instead of the media player, various socket interfaces may be supported without having to change the media player, and since data is stored in the cache, a buffering time may be reduced.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method for managing a plurality of sessions is disclosed. The method includes advertising, by a node establishing the plurality of sessions, a session limit capability to peer nodes of the plurality, of sessions, determining priorities of the plurality of sessions, and selecting an optimal session from the plurality of sessions based on a session limit parameter and the determined priorities of the plurality of sessions, wherein the session limit parameter indicates the number of acceptable sessions for the node establishing the plurality of sessions. Additionally, a corresponding apparatus is also disclosed according to another embodiment.

Abstract: One or more cooperative network servers establish connections with a plurality of access points to form a cooperative network. The plurality of access points may be operated by a plurality of different individuals. Incentives such as reciprocal usage, remuneration, and so forth may encourage participants to join the cooperative network. Data may be passed from an originating device through the access point to a datacenter, which may transfer the data to another datacenter which sends the data to another access point which ultimately provides the data to a destination device. The transfer between datacenters may use a high capacity backbone which may provide lower latency, reduced data transfer cost, and so forth.

Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product establishes and utilizes a tenant-specific log for events related to a cloud-based service. A metamodel is created for a cloud-based service running on a cloud. The cloud-based service is provided to a specific tenant of the cloud, and the metamodel describes types of resources, on the cloud, that are providing the cloud-based service for the specific tenant. The metamodel is appended to the cloud-based service. In response to the cloud-based service being executed for the specific tenant of the cloud, the metamodel is used to identify a set of resources that are actually providing the cloud-based service for the specific tenant. A tenant-specific log for events related to the cloud-based service is established, where the tenant-specific log tracks events that occur on each actual resource on the cloud that provides the cloud-based service to the specific tenant. The tenant-specific log is then retrieved.

Abstract: Media items for broadcast or streaming can be created or otherwise obtained by a media distribution system. The media items can be transferred from the media distribution system to a media delivery system over a communications network, in an order determined by the media distribution system. The media delivery system decides how important the media items being transferred are, based for example, on a broadcast schedule known to the media delivery system; assigns a temporal priority to the media items; and provides feedback to the media distribution system regarding the temporal priority. The media distribution system adjusts the order in which media items are transferred based on the temporal priority feedback from the media delivery system. The media distribution system can provide a list of upcoming media item transfers, to allow the media delivery system to provide feedback before the media items are transmitted.

Abstract: Described is a system for inferring the location of users in online social media platforms using social network analysis. A social network is first extracted from data from at least one social media platform. A mapping is generated from each user to the user's estimated geographical location in the social network, resulting in an estimated location mapping. A mapping is generated from each user to the user's known geographical location, if known, resulting in a known location mapping. The estimated location mapping is updated to match the known location mapping. The location for each user j in the known location mapping is updated in a current estimated location mapping. The final geographical locations of users connected with j are estimated using a geometric median metric. Finally, the final estimated geographical locations of users connected with j are mapped into the social network.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for communicating with another device using a first device having a converged personal network service (CPNS) enabled entity. The communication method comprises: a step for determining whether the mode of the CPNS enabled entity needs to be changed from gateway mode to coupling mode; and a step for changing the mode of the CPNS enabled entity from the gateway mode to the coupling mode, according to the results from the step for determining. When changed to the coupling mode, the CPNS enabled entity operates in personal network entity (PNE) mode to receive from the second device data for service of a second network, and the gateway mode to transmit the received service data to at least one of the entities that belong to a first network managed by the CPNS enabled entity.

Abstract: Embodiments of apparatus, packages, computer-implemented methods, systems, devices, and computer-readable media are described herein for a mobile computing device with a primary processing unit configured to operate in a normal mode and a reduced power mode. The mobile computing device may include a secondary processing unit, coupled with the primary processing unit, configured to provide, to a remote computing server, location data of the mobile computing device. The secondary processing unit may be configured to receive, from the remote computing server, one or more POIs contained within a geofence, identified based on the provided location data. The providing and receiving may be performed on behalf of the primary processing unit while the primary processing unit is in the reduced power mode. Operation of the secondary power processing unit may require less power than operation of the primary processing unit in the normal mode.

Abstract: Method, computer program product, and system for identifying, responsive to a request for a network resource, at least one peer device, wherein the request is made by a first device on a mobile network, the at least one peer device on a local network with the first device, the local network different than the mobile network; partitioning, based on at least one content element of the requested network resource, the request into a plurality of subrequests, each subrequest specifying to retrieve one or more content elements of the requested network resource; assigning each subrequest to one of the peer devices and the first device, wherein each peer device and the first device retrieves the content elements specified by the subrequest assigned to the respective device, wherein each peer device transmits the retrieved portion of the network resource to the first device over the local network.

Abstract: A system and method can support intra-node communication based on a shared memory queue. The shared memory queue can be associated with a shared memory, to which one or more communication peers are attached. The shared memory queue operates to allocate one or more message buffers in the shared memory that contains a first message from a sender to a receiver, and can send the first message to the receiver by linking the one or more message buffers with another message queue. Optionally, a second message buffer may be created, and the message can be sent to the receiver by copying the message to the second message buffer and linking it with another message queue. Additionally, the shared memory queue operates to receive a second message from another sender by delinking one or more message buffers associated with said second message.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide geolocation notifications to increase collaboration between users. Specifically, a collaboration tool is configured to receive, from a social media application, an indication of a geolocation of a first user, as well as information about an availability of the first user. A second user is notified about the geolocation of the first user and the availability of the first user, which is used to generate a collaborative meeting event for the first user and the second user according to the geolocation of the first user, the availability of the first user, an availability of the second user, and a location of the second user. The second user is automatically notified about the collaborative meeting event, which may be automatically scheduled in a calendar application. As such, the collaboration tool unifies user geolocation and availability information in order to connect interested users with one another in a mutually beneficial way.
