Abstract: A system for delivering a context-based service to a connected device is provided. The system includes context information for a user of the connected device, a web service, and a service delivery system. The service delivery system receives context information and information from the web service. The service delivery system combines the context information and the information from the web service to create customized information for the user. The customized information is then delivered to the user's connected device.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for using voiceprint technology in CALEA surveillance. A media-analysis platform receives packets from a bearer element, the packets comprising media data representing a copy of at least part of a real-time media session. The bearer element is configured to initially send to the platform a copy of each of a plurality of media sessions that traverse the bearer element, and to stop sending a copy of a particular session in response to receiving an instruction from the platform. Responsive to receiving the packets, the platform compares the media data to at least one media-data profile, where each profile is associated with a target of surveillance. The platform determines whether the data matches any of the profiles. If the data does not match any of the profiles, the platform sends an instruction to the bearer element to stop sending the copy of the session.

Abstract: A system is described in which, in some embodiments, a centralized service entry device may be used to coordinate communications going into and out of a home or premises. The service entry device may be physically connected to a plurality of external access networks, such as a cable television coaxial or fiber connection and a twisted-pair wire connection, and may coordinate access to those networks by a plurality of in-home devices. Within the home, the system may include a plurality of client devices to assist in the coordination of communications with devices in different rooms within the home.

Abstract: Architecture that employs a combination of in-band signaling (e.g., DTMF) with speech recognition to deliver usability improvements. The in-band signaling allows the user to indicate to the system when a barge-in operation is occurring and/or when to start listening to subsequent speech input and optionally, when to stop listening for further speech input. The in-band signaling can be utilized during a telephone call and using wireline and wireless telephones. Moreover, the architecture can be incorporated at the platform level requiring little, if any, application changes to support the new mode of operation.

Abstract: A desktop network protocol telephone set has a network interface for connecting the telephone set to a local area network. An audio interface provides audio signals to and from a handset of the telephone set. A processing circuit is responsive to communications from the network interface. A control circuit coupled to the processing circuit is used for changing a driving frequency of the LCD panel.

Abstract: Techniques and systems for recalling voicemail messages from remote voicemail systems are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for recalling a voicemail message from a target mailbox can include: accessing a voicemail system by a caller using a device; authenticating the caller using speaker verification; and deleting the voicemail message from the target mailbox. The target mailbox owner can be a member of the voicemail system, while the caller can be a non-member of that voicemail system. The device may be configured to support a telephony user interface (TUI), for example.

Abstract: A user device is configured to download an autodialer application that permits a user, of the user device, to purchase a prepaid calling plan and make calls using the prepaid calling plan; receive an instruction to purchase the prepaid calling plan; receive payment to establish a prepaid balance associated with the prepaid calling plan; present confirmation information when the payment is received, the confirmation information including the prepaid balance and access information; receive a request to make a call using the prepaid calling plan, the request including a number corresponding to a destination user device; call the destination user device using the number corresponding to the destination user device and the access information; determine a duration of the call to the destination user device; compute a cost of the call based on the duration of the call; and update the prepaid balance based on the cost of the call.

Abstract: Aspects of present invention provide a method, computer-readable medium, and system for saving and modifying a draft voicemail message. More specifically, a caller may create a draft voicemail message that is saved without being transmitted to a callee. Then the caller may access the draft voicemail message and generate events to modify the message. More specifically, when a modification event is generated, event data that describes the modification to the voicemail message requested by the caller is received. Then, the data included with the voicemail message is updated to reflect the input received from the caller.

Abstract: In one implementation a computer-implemented method includes generating a group of telephone contacts for a first user, wherein the generating includes identifying a second user as a contact of the first user based upon a determination that the second user has at least a threshold email-based association with the first user; and adding the identified second user to the group of telephone contacts for the first user. The method further includes receiving a first request to connect a first telephone device associated with the first user to a second telephone device associated with the second user. The method also includes identifying a contact identifier of the second telephone device using the generated group of telephone contacts for the first user, and initiating a connection between the first telephone device and the second telephone device using the identified contact identifier.

Abstract: A system and method for optimizing the price of a call to a business and the placement of a business' information within an ad buy on a Web page are disclosed. A call is received by a client from a potential consumer of a product. The call is transcribed into a text call stream on both the consumer and the client sides of the call. Patterns are extracted from the call. The patterns extracted may be applied against patterns relevant to the client. Patterns relevant to the client may be tied to certain goals of the business of the client that indicate successful business transactions between the consumer and the client or that indicate a service provide by the client. Extracted patterns may be used to adjust the price of the call based on the client's willingness to pay for a call containing patterns relevant to the client.

Abstract: A unified messaging system includes a unit to store a message operable to store a message sent to a user, the message having a selectable security attribute set to a one of a plurality of levels. A module associated with the unit operates to secure a voice channel used by the user to listen to the message when the selectable security level is set to a high level indicating encryption. Abstract: A device, method, and system for routing communications to an output of a communications device, such as a mobile telephone, based on the format of an incoming communication and an output mode of the communications device is disclosed. An incoming speech communication can be delivered to a speaker output or forwarded to a format converter to create a text communication that can be delivered to a display output. An incoming text communication can be delivered to a display output or forwarded to a format converter to create a speech communication for delivery to a speaker output. The output mode of the communication device can be set according to device settings, application settings, or location of the device, or a combination thereof. The invention provides new delivery options for communications which can be inure appropriate for a location or current use of the communication device than those previously available.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and media for extracting phone numbers from voice mail messages are disclosed. Embodiments may include a method for determining a phone number in a voice mail message that includes analyzing a message and determining phone number(s) associated with the message based on the analysis. Embodiments of the method may also include generating a macro based on the determined phone number(s) and performing a macro action for at least one generated macro. In some embodiments, analyzing the message and determining phone number(s) associated with the message may include detecting a trigger word and parsing words in the message after the detected trigger word. In other embodiments, analyzing the message and determining one or more phone numbers associated with the message may include analyzing a voice-to-number dictionary and determining phone number(s) based on the dictionary. The macro action may include dialing, storing, deleting, etc. a phone number.

Abstract: A system and method for integrating voice and data operations into a single mobile device capable of simultaneously performing data and voice actions. The mobile device working in a network capable of exchanging both cell phone calls and data items to the mobile device. By wearing an earphone or an ear-bud device the user is capable of dealing with voice conversations while working with data centric information related to the current caller. By providing a data-centric device with voice capabilities there is a new range of features that allow incoming data events to trigger outgoing voice events.

Abstract: A method is described for call treatment based on user association with one or more user groups. The method includes receiving a phone call from a call source that is directed to a call recipient, identifying a user group associated with the call recipient, and determining a number of received indications assigned to the user group. The received indications are assigned to the user group by users associated with the user group, and the received indications reflect a desire by the users for a special treatment of future calls from the call source. The method also includes distinguishing treatment of the phone call from the call source based on the number of received indications.

Abstract: A method, a system, and computer readable medium comprising instructions for monitoring caller experience in a call flow are provided. The method comprises collecting at least one selection by at least one caller in a call flow, generating performance analysis of a voice response system, combining the at least one selection and the performance analysis into a set of data, applying a monitoring formula to the set of data to form a result representing caller experience; and presenting the result to at least one service provider.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a media terminal adapter (MTA) that gathers and reports steps of an initialization process as well as other information. The MTA tracks each completed step via a state machine and subsequently converts the steps and other information into an FSK format. FSK data is then provided to either a Type 1 or Type II caller identification telephone, or other caller identification box that includes a caller identification display, or a coupled handheld display device. Additionally, the MTA may also convert the completed steps into an audio wave file that is then transmitted to a connected telephone or an internal speaker.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing perspective-based media playback is presented. A recording of each of a plurality of parties participating in a communication session is acquired. A user is allowed to select a perspective of one of the parties participating in the communications session. At least a portion of at least one of the recordings related to the perspective selected by the user are then played back.

Abstract: A method in one embodiment includes receiving input identifying a plurality of callers within a listening or speaking range of a phone device being used to place a call. The input is then sent over a packet-based network to a server that authenticates and authorizes each of the callers to the call. Following authentication and authorization by the server, a name or caller ID of each of the callers is sent to a destination endpoint device of the call. Abstract: A system for controlling incoming and/or outgoing calls on a telephone system having a single incoming/outgoing telephone line to which multiple telephone ports are connected. The system includes a database of instructions for processing calls, with the instructions being determined by the line owner. The system also includes a central processing unit for applying one or more of the user-specified instructions to selectively process an incoming or outgoing telephone call. The system may additionally include a caller identification device for identifying incoming caller numbers, and may process incoming calls according to the identity of the caller. The system may also include instructions for processing calls according to the time of day, or other user-specified parameters. Another aspect of the invention provides a method for controlling incoming and/or outgoing telephone calls, using the system and instructions described above.
