Abstract: A device for winding conical yarn packages, particularly in textile machines with a constant yarn delivery speed, which eliminates the difference between the yarn delivery speed and the yarn winding speed by using a prolate spheroid drive means for the yarn package. The drive means is supported on a common shaft by means of a tilting joint and a carrier there being a swinging actuator associated with at least one end face of the drive means, the swinging motion of the actuator taking place within a plane passing through the axis of the common shaft.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for controlling high speed strand takeup reel shrouds during reel crossover by moving the shrouds once the output speed of the reel motors have deaccelerated to a preselected rate.
