  • Patent number: 5248111
Abstract: A yarn winding bobbin is disclosed which includes a tubular wall composed of wound paper layers, and a yarn catching slot positioned adjacent one end of the tubular wall. The slot includes an inlet portion and a clamping portion, and the inlet portion includes an opening which extends completely through the wall. A yarn trap is formed in the opening for engaging a yarn which is positioned to move in the direction of rotation of the bobbin. The yarn trap is configured in such a manner that in the event of a suddenly occurring force exerted on the yarn, the yarn trap will not be destroyed. This is accomplished in that the yarn trap includes a yarn engaging edge which extends through the entire thickness of the wall of the bobbin, so that the yarn engages the entire thickness and not the individual paper layers.

  • Patent number: 4313576
Abstract: Several yarn packages or yarn reels are simultaneously wound on the same spindle using an improved process and apparatus, especially with regard to the start-up of the winding including the attachment of the yarns to the spindle and the formation of a yarn transfer end. Means are provided for engaging and disengaging the yarns from yarn reciprocating distribution guides which lay down the yarns on the rotating yarn reel. The same means in the form of a guide ramp guides the yarns from a common hooking point attaching the yarns to the spindle and then disengages from the yarns so that the yarns will be contacted for reciprocation over the main winding zone of the yarn reel by the reciprocating distribution guides.

  • Patent number: 4093135
Abstract: A device effects the method of controlling a reserve winding during winding of a thread onto a spool or core, in which the thread is fed to the spool by a delivery mechanism via a traversing device. A reserve winding zone is defined adjacent the end of the spool. The thread is applied to the spool at an intermediate point within the reserve winding zone. Then, the thread is moved outwardly along the spool toward the end thereof and subsequently moved inwardly in the direction of the thread package to be formed. The device comprises means for effecting the method of the invention. A specific embodiment includes a stationary limiting member and a pivotally mounted thread guide control member which moves in cooperation with the stationary member to effect the desired method.

  • Patent number: 4090677
Abstract: An apparatus for storing and feeding yarn to yarn using machines, comprising a base plate carrying a freely rotatable shaft which supports a drum through ball bearings and a dispensing arm which distributes turns of yarn upon the drum. Two coaxial rolling bearings surround the shaft one being supported by the base plate and the other by the drum and the bearings are connected to one another by a rigid body having a passage through which the arm passes, thus preventing rotation of the drum with respect to the base plate.

  • Patent number: 4058272
Abstract: An inertia locking safety belt take-up reel comprises a U-shaped bracket and a rotatable reel including side ratchet wheels and journalled between the bracket side walls. A rockable cross piece including pawl projections is supported between the side walls for movement into engagement with the ratchet wheels and is spring biased out of engagement. A clutch wheel is rotatable with the reel and frictionally rotatably supports a cooperating clutch annulus, the two clutch members pivotally engaging a pawl so that their relative rotation attendant to a rapid acceleration of the reel swings the pawl into engagement with a second ratchet wheel to rock the latter, which in turn rocks the cross piece through an interconnecting crank arm, to lock the reel ratchet wheels by the associated pawls. An alarm control gear is driven by a pinion rotatable with the reel.

  • Patent number: 3985315
Abstract: In a package formed of a plurality of layers each composed of a number of figure 8 winds with the cross-overs progressing around the package and with a radial opening extending from the periphery of the package to the axial opening through which radial opening the inner end of the material is led out, a funnel is provided with a stem positioned in the radial opening and with its mouth substantially at the mid-plane of the package. The funnel has a width in the axial direction of the package at least substantially as great as the axial length of the package. The funnel may be mounted in such a way that it can wobble slightly. The funnel guides the loops falling off of the inside wall of the package so as to prevent birdsnesting and provide for continuous and rapid payout.
