  • Patent number: 6525257
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement, with which pressure point characteristics can be simulated, such that a key stroke typical of a cembalo, as well as the key characteristics of an organ can be as near as possible approached and permits the replication of a dynamic key stroke, as well as multiple pressure points during a single key operation. At least one sensor (3) is rigidly arranged for each key (1), from which positional data, about the key, is sent to an analog signal preparation unit and a programmable analytical unit (6), which generates data for an externally connected digital signal processor (7). Each key is coupled to an electromagnet (2), which is controlled by the analytical unit, depending upon the positional data and a current program. The arrangement for the creation of pressure points in keyboards is suitable for piano-like electronic keyboard instruments, electronic cembalos and electronic organs.

  • Patent number: 6525256
Abstract: To compress a MIDI format file it is converted to a format 0 file. The format 0 file is then scanned to reduce the number of possible instruments to 16. MIDI commands having no sound output are then eliminated and NoteOn and NoteOff commands are replaced by a PlayNote command. This eliminates instances of &Dgr;time equal to 0. Based on the characteristics of an appliance that has to play the compressed file, the notes are recentered in a bandwidth compatible with the appliance, after which the file is scanned to seek instances of polyphony. If an instance of polyphony exceeds the capacities of the appliance it is reduced in accordance with an instrument priority list and a note pitch.

  • Patent number: 6518492
Abstract: There is provided an improved system and method of determining the tempo of a digitized musical work that, optionally, allows a user to participate in the BPM determination. A first preferred aspect includes determination of estimates of the BPM of a musical work by utilizing at least two different algorithms, thereby producing a plurality of separate BPM candidates. As a further preferred aspect, the method utilizes, as an optional step, input from the user to assist in selecting the “best” BPM from among the plurality of BPMs determined previously. Preferably, the user is given the option of “tapping along” with the music by pressing the mouse or a key on the computer in time to the music as it is played. The program analyzes the first few taps and, from that input, selects from the BPMs the one that is most consistent with the user's input.

  • Patent number: 6486390
Abstract: A rhythm pattern is provided to be subjected to forward syncopation processing. The time position of an un-syncopated note in the rhythm pattern is shifted forward to render advanced beating of the note to make a forward-syncopated rhythm pattern. The notes in the modified rhythm pattern are given respective note pitches to establish a melody, wherein the skeleton notes in the rhythm pattern are given skeleton pitches, and the non-skeleton notes in the rhythm pattern are given non-skeleton pitches. • Patent number: 6486387
Abstract: In a fingering information analyzer, tone pitch information indicative of each tone pitch of a series of musical notes supplied from a flexible disc or a performance information memory is analyzed to produce fingering information indicative of a performance finger for each of the musical notes. The fingering information is mixed with the tone pitch information and memorized in a fingering memory. When the fingering information is reproduced, a performance finger for each of the musical notes is determined in accordance with a changing direction or variation width of the tone pitch information continual in time series and a changing condition of white and black keys based on the tone pitch information. The tone pitch information and fingering information memorized in the fingering memory is read out in accordance with progression of a musical tune and adapted for performance of the keys on a keyboard and for indication of the performance finger.
