  • Patent number: 4779844
Abstract: A draw works for a mobile crane, to selectively reel in and reel out the cable of the crane by appropriate rotation of the cable pulley, includes a stable platform having mounted in fixed relationship therewith an engine with a rotatable output shaft, a rotatable speed reduction wheel, and a rotatable idler wheel. A pinion is mounted on the engine output shaft, and is aligned in a common plane with the speed reduction wheel and the idler wheel. The pinion and the reduction wheel are separated from one another, and the idler wheel is adjustably mounted on a stanchion between the two. A flexible endless belt is wrapped and retained on the pinion and the reduction wheel to engage a portion of the circumference of each for translational movement of the belt with rotation of the pinion, and thereby to rotate the reduction wheel.

  • Patent number: 4221345
Abstract: Devices and processes for feeding freshly spun and/or stretched filaments, which are delivered to the devices at more than 1000 meters/min., in helices to a receptacle, said devices embodying a rotating member with curvate passage extending from its upper inlet, which lies in the axis of rotation, to its outlet opening at a radial and axial spacing from the inlet, the axis of the outlet opening facing opposite to the direction of orbit thereof and the tangent of the passage's radially outer wall surface contiguous to said outlet opening forming an angle between 30.degree. and 80.degree. with reference to the radius, drawn through the outlet opening, of the circle of rotation of the outlet opening.

  • Patent number: 4056242
Abstract: A reel for safety belts. There is provided a safety belt for such use as motor vehicles or aircraft, which will normally have only light tension thereon to permit easy movement of the safetied person on the seat of the vehicle or aircraft but which upon sudden change in speed of the vehicle or aircraft will impose a sufficient strong restraint against unwinding thereof as to effect the desired support of the person to whom the safety belt is applied. The device is particularly adapted for fitting into relatively small spaces and is fully integrated for providing its operation without external connections. Particularly, the device embodying the invention is provided with a belt-carrying winch in which a spring maintains a light windup tension thereon. Acceleration sensitive means initially locks the winch to prevent unreeling of the belt and immediately thereafter releases said lock, winds the belt as needed to remove any slack therefrom and applies a brake against further unreeling of the belt.

  • Patent number: 4022389
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically forming a yarn reserve on a wind-up bobbin of a yarn treatment machine, is described in which a slot disc at one end of the bobbin pinches and tears off the yarn prior to causing the yarn to engage a first stationary catching thread guide through which the yarn passes while being wound to form the yarn reserve. However, as the usual reciprocating thread-guide approaches the end of the bobbin, a movable thread-guide element fixed thereto transfers the yarn to a second stationary catching thread-guide. Then, on reversal, the movable-thread-guide element releases the yarn, the second catching thread-guide being positioned so that the yarn then enters the reciprocating thread guide to enable the yarn to be wound up to fill the bobbin in the wind-up range thereof.
