  • Patent number: 11240516
Abstract: An apparatus for video decoding includes processing circuitry that decodes prediction information for a current block in a current picture that is a part of a coded video sequence. The processing circuitry determines whether the current block is coded in an intra block copy (IBC) mode based on the prediction information. Responsive to the current block not being coded in the IBC mode, the processing circuitry determines whether a size of the current block is above a threshold. The processing circuitry determines that the current block is coded in an intra prediction mode based on a determination that the size of the current block is not above the threshold. The processing circuitry reconstructs the current block based on the intra prediction mode.

  • Patent number: 11232685
Abstract: A security system includes a server and at least one dual-mode image capture device. The capture device includes a camera that captures images of a field of view of a monitored area. When motion is detected in the monitored area, the capture device sends the images as video to a server, and when the motion is not detected in the monitored area, the capture device sends, at intervals, at least one still image to the server. Irrespective of whether the capture device has a cloud storage subscription, the server may store the still image(s) in a database for later retrieval as evidence of an event at or near the monitored area. In certain embodiments, when the still image(s) do not significantly differ from a reference image of the monitored area, the still image(s) may be discarded and not stored in the database.

  • Patent number: 11159804
Abstract: Various methods, systems, and apparatuses can be used to provide intelligent tuning based on quality-of-experience (QoE) feedback. In some implementations, an encoder can be modified to receive QoE feedback and subsequently adjust the transmitted output video signal. For example, based on a QoE feedback, an output compression rate can be optimized. In other implementations, an external intelligent monitor can be used to receive QoE feedback, compute output compression rate adjustments, and send adjustment commands to the encoder. Dynamically adjusting encoder parameters can reduce bandwidth while maintaining a high QoE.
