  • Patent number: 8523403
Abstract: A reflector spotlight luminaire includes a housing defining an optical axis. The light source is provided that includes one or more white light emitting LEDs, the lights being arranged to direct a beam of white light along the axis of the housing, such as being reflected from an ellipsoidal reflector. An image engine in the form of an LCD panel intercepts the beam of white light traveling along the axis to modify and enhance the beam of white light with image data, such as color, shape, animation, etc. Conventional projection optics accumulates the image emitted by the image engine, projects the optically enhanced light beam through the housing onto a projection surface.

  • Patent number: 8449159
Abstract: A light module (1) suitable for use as a landing light for an airplane is disclosed, using an elongated array (2) of light emitting diodes (LEDs) as the light source. Light from the LEDs is directed toward a transparent cover (3). The cover (3) may include a plano-convex lens (4) at its center for nominally collimating the light from the LEDs. The cover (3) may also include a generally featureless peripheral region laterally circumferentially surrounding the lens (4). A faceted reflecting surface (6) having a generally parabolic base curvature (8) may extend circumferentially around a longitudinal axis of the landing light from the LEDs to the cover (3). Light exiting the LEDs at a relatively high angle of exitance reflects off the faceted reflecting surface (6) and transmits through the generally featureless peripheral region of the cover (3).

  • Patent number: 8033675
Abstract: A light emitting device has a plurality of light emitting elements each having a first electrode layer, a second electrode layer, and a light emitting layer disposed between the first and the second electrode layers, a reflective layer being disposed between a substrate and the first electrode layer and reflecting light emitted by the light emitting layer to the light emitting layer, the light emitting elements including a red light emitting element that emits a red light, a green light emitting element that emits a green light, and a blue light emitting element that emits a blue light, the green and the blue light emitting elements each having a resonator structure which contains the reflective layer and a translucent half-reflective layer and which is constituted by adjustment of the optical distance between the reflective layer and the translucent half-reflective layer, the red light emitting element not having the resonator structure.

  • Patent number: 7494257
Abstract: The invention relates to an illumination device, particularly for automobiles, with a light source and a light conductor that emits the light from the light source conducted within it via a light decoupling surface, whereby light decoupling elements are positioned on the side opposite the light decoupling surface that divert light toward the light decoupling surface, whereby the light decoupling elements possess at least two diverting surfaces, and the first diverting surface is positioned closer to the light source than the second diverting surface of a light decoupling element, each of which subtends an angle with the light decoupling surface whereby the angles of the diverting surfaces are so selected that at least a portion of the light striking the second diverting surface is transmittable through it under refraction, and may be again coupled into the light conductor by means of the first diverting surface of the subsequent decoupling element, whereby this light is at least partially conducted from the f

  • Patent number: 7152999
Abstract: A rope light having a multi-circuit arrangement is disclosed. The light comprises a plurality of electrical wires longitudinally extended therealong; and one or more pairs of first and second illuminating units, each pair being electrically coupled between any two electrical wires, each illuminating unit including a plurality of LEDs coupled in series, and the first and the second illuminating units in each pair being connected in parallel. Applying AC source between any two electrical wires sequentially will lighten up the first and the second illuminating units in each pair alternately by enabling current to flow through the LEDs in each illuminating unit toward a predetermined direction when the LEDs are conducted. The invention can control on/off of a plurality of LEDs by means of a relative small number of electrical wires.

  • Patent number: 7147346
Abstract: The invention relates to a multifunctional lighting fixture having at least one fluorescent lamp mounted inside a flat lighting fixture housing comprised of two rectangular frames. Each frame consists of preferably only one lateral wing running parallel to the fluorescent lamp, and front wings situated therebetween, whereby spacer elements and edged spacer edge connectors hold the lateral wings and front wings of both frames at a predetermined distance. The lighting fixture can be combined in many ways both during initial assembly as well as for a subsequent conversion and can be assembled in the form of a built-on lamp or suspended lamp, a vertically or horizontally mounted wall lamp, floor lamp standing lamp or cable lighting fixture without modifying the base body of the lighting fixture. In addition, different light distributing elements can be used in an exchangeable manner so that the light is both directly oriented onto a useful surface as well as deflected in an indirect and preferably colored manner.

  • Patent number: 5183326
Abstract: Apparatus for holding a flashlight or other small object adjacent to the side of the head of an underwater diver, thereby freeing the hands of the diver for other purposes, while still providing underwater lighting or other equipment. It is designed for releasable connection to head gear worn by underwater divers, and includes an element for providing support to a flashlight. The support preferably has a specific gravity of less than about one, thereby providing floatation to the apparatus and to any article which is carried by the apparatus, as well as support and orientation to a flashlight or other equipment which is carried by the apparatus. The support is connected to the head gear of a diver and to a flashlight by one or more strap which releasably engages and secures the flashlight to the support, and which strap also releasably engages and secures the support and the flashlight which it carries to the diver.
