  • Patent number: 8606539
Abstract: A radar (peripheral object observation device) repeatedly observes a relative position of an object relative to the moving object, which is located in the vicinity of a moving object. A stationary object identification unit (stationary object determination unit) determines whether or not the object the relative positions of which have been observed by the radar is still. A road approximate curve temporary computation unit (object correlation unit) determines a plurality of the relative positions of an identical object observed by the radar from among the relative positions observed by the radar. A road approximate curve main computation unit (approximate curve computation unit) computes an approximate curve that approximates the configuration of a road on which the moving object is located, based on a result of the determination by the stationary object identification unit and a result of the determination by the road approximate curve computation unit.

  • Patent number: 8589100
Abstract: A system and method for determining and applying characterization correlation curves for aging effects on an organic light organic light emitting device (OLED) based pixel is disclosed. A first stress condition is applied to a reference pixel having a drive transistor and an OLED. An output voltage based on a reference current is measured periodically to determine an electrical characteristic of the reference pixel under the first predetermined stress condition. The luminance of the reference pixel is measured periodically to determine an optical characteristic of the reference pixel. A characterization correlation curve corresponding to the first stress condition including the determined electrical and optical characteristic of the reference pixel is stored. The stress condition of an active pixel is determined and a compensation voltage is determined by correlating the stress condition of the active pixel with the curves of the predetermined stress conditions.

  • Patent number: 8589589
Abstract: A method, a system, and an apparatus are provided for organizing management information bases (MIB) in a network. A table, associated with an overlay MIB structure, is populated with entries. Each entry defines an object identifier (OID) of a mount point and an OID of a mount target. A selection is made between the existing OIDs and OIDs corresponding to a MIB overlay. When management communication refers to managed objects, they can be referred to in terms of OIDs defined by the MIB overlay, as an alternative to their existing OIDs. An agent infrastructure is defined to support the MIB overlay structure.

  • Patent number: 8548754
Abstract: Detecting a leak, or the like, with high accuracy on the basis of pressure and a flow volume acquired during use of fluid is made possible. A volume of gas flowing through a flow path 102 is measured by a flow volume measurement unit 106, and pressure is measured by a pressure measurement unit 108. Measured flow data and measured pressure data are input to an analysis unit 112, to thus analyze following of a pressure change by a flow volume change. A determination showing that a following flow volume change is present, that a following flow volume change is not present, or that a following flow volume change is uncertain is made according to a magnitude correlation between an amount of pressure change of a predetermined level or more and an amount of flow volume change.

  • Patent number: 8527212
Abstract: Radiation scattering is one of the main contributors to the uncertainty of near infrared (NIR) measurements. Enhanced absorption-measurement accuracy for NIR sensors is achieved by using a combination of NIR spectroscopy and time-of-flight techniques to select photons that are the result of a given mean free path within a moving sample target. By measuring absorption as a function of path length or by windowing signals that are attributable to excessive scattering of NIR radiation within the sample, this technique affords the calculation of more accurate and more universal calibrations. The NIR sensor employs short or ultra-short laser pulses to create NIR that is directed to the moving sample and emerging radiation is detected over time. Windowing effectively truncates non-contributing measurements.

  • Patent number: 8521445
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relate to measuring corrosion rate. Flowing corrosive fluid contacts a metal coupon or object and results in an effluent stream. The effluent stream contains metal from the object due to reaction of constituents in the fluid with the metal. Analysis of the effluent stream measures concentration of the metal therein. Since the concentration of the metal in the effluent stream is indicative of mass loss from the object, calculations provide the corrosion rate utilizing weight of the metal that is eluted, surface area of the object and exposure time of the object with the corrosive fluid.

  • Patent number: 8438291
Abstract: Business applications running on a content delivery network (CDN) having a distributed application framework can create, access and modify state for each client. Over time, a single client may desire to access a given application on different CDN edge servers within the same region and even across different regions. Each time, the application may need to access the latest “state” of the client even if the state was last modified by an application on a different server. A difficulty arises when a process or a machine that last modified the state dies or is temporarily or permanently unavailable. The present invention provides techniques for migrating session state data across CDN servers in a manner transparent to the user. A distributed application thus can access a latest “state” of a client even if the state was last modified by an application instance executing on a different CDN server, including a nearby (in-region) or a remote (out-of-region) server.

  • Patent number: 8345668
Abstract: The video receiving device delivers reproducible video streams by synchronizing video images. The video delivering device determines the delivery time for each RTP packet based on the time information for plural video streams corresponding to plural contents, adds the determined delivery time (timestamp) to each RTP packet, and delivers RTP packets by using the counter common among plural contents. The video relaying device corrects the transfer timing for RTP packets based on the counter common among plural contents and the delivery time (timestamp) and sends them to the video receiving device. The video receiving device plays back the video images from the received RTP packets.

  • Patent number: 8265065
Abstract: The invention is a method and system for reliably detecting the start and/or end of silence periods during voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) sessions in a wireless communications network. A VoIP session typically includes “talkspurt” periods, during which VoIP packets are transmitted, and silence periods, during which silence indication (SID) packets are transmitted. Both the base station (eNodeB or eNb) and the mobile device (user equipment or UE) may inspect the packets to identify them as VoIP or SID packets. Alternatively, only the eNB inspects the packets. The eNB then flags the first SID packet after a VoIP packet as the start of a silence period, and flags the first VoIP packet after a SID packet as the end of a silence period. The eNB then modifies the header of the medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) prior to transmission to the UE. The UE then detects the modified MAC headers to identify the start and/or end of silence periods.
