  • Patent number: 7784319
Abstract: Systems and methods are employed for monitoring and controlling a can necking process in a multi-stage can necking machine. Sensors are employed that communicate with local controllers. A local controller is used at each stage of the multi-stage can necking machine. The local controllers are used to perform fast processing of information from the sensors located in the stage associated with the local controller. A main controller is then used to determine drop rates. Predefined threshold rates may be used to compare with calculated drop rates. A multi-stage can necking machine may be controlled in part based on drop rates crossing threshold rates.

  • Patent number: 7770425
Abstract: A winder assembly is provided for rotating a component of a can necking machine to a desired angular position suitable for performing maintenance on the component. The winder assembly includes a shaft coupled to a motor of that drives the components of the can necking machine during operation. A handle can be removably connected to the shaft, such that rotation of the handle in a rotational direction correspondingly causes the shaft to rotate. The shaft causes the motor to rotate, which drives a gear train that rotates the components of the necking machine that are coupled to the gear train.

  • Patent number: 7770429
Abstract: In a method for producing a coupling on a pipe, preferably consisting of copper or steel or Cu—, Ni—, Fe— alloys, by way of a preferably graduated or one-stage expansion of the pipe end to create a much larger difference in diameter, an expansion tool is introduced axially into the end of the pipe. Once the expansion tool has been introduced into the pipe end, the region of the pipe end that is to be or has been expanded is completely or partially compressed, by a force acting axially on the pipe end, so that the external diameter of the pipe end that is to be processed is delimited by one or more shaping jaws that completely or partially surround the pipe end. The invention also relates to a device for producing a coupling on a pipe end according to the method.

  • Patent number: 7765845
Abstract: The stem slide device of the present invention in an extruder has a stem vertical movement support (71) and slide guide members (72-1, 2) fastened to the support and forming guide grooves. A stem (6) pushing against a billet loaded in a container is held at the slide table (73) horizontally. The slide table slides in the vertical direction along the vertical face of the support. When the slide table is positioned at the bottom end of the guide groove, the hydraulic cylinders (77-1, 2) are driven so that the rods (78-1, 2) push the back surface of the slide table against the vertical face of the support. Therefore, the axis of the stem is held matched with the axis of the container.

  • Patent number: 7765848
Abstract: In a press working apparatus 10, while a servo motor 24 is acting, an upper die 38 is made to come close to a lower die 52 and press working of the first time is conducted on a steel plate 12. A slider 32 is raised to a movable punch preparation position. A movable punch 90 is protruded from a die face 38a of the upper die 38 by width H and locked by a mechanical lock 94. The upper die 38 is made to come close to the lower die 52 again and the steel plate 12 is pushed with the upper die 38 and at the same time an additional worked portion 12a is pushed and deformed with the movable punch 90 so as to conduct press working of the second time. After the movable punch 90 has been retracted, the slider 32 is raised.

  • Patent number: 7721584
Abstract: A plurality of workpiece holders 52 are attached on a slide plate 71 on a bar 14 and connected to a movable plate 72 by a plate connecting portion 73. The plate connecting portion 73 includes an engaging portion 731 that is provided on the movable plate 72 and an engaged portion 732 that is provided on the slide plate 71 and engaged with the engaging portion 731. By moving a fixed bar 141 downward relative to a movable bar 142, the movable bar 142 is detached and the engagement of the engaging portion 731 with the engaged portion 732 is released. Since both of the movable bar 142 and the slide plate 71 can be detached by a single downward movement of the fixed bar 141, no actuator is required, thereby simplifying the structure.

  • Patent number: 7673489
Abstract: An axial intermediate portion of raw material is held with a holding die in a state in which the intermediate portion is prevented from being enlarged in diameter. The axial end portions of the raw material is inserted in forming dented portions formed at axial end portions of the holding die. The scheduled diameter-enlarging portions are inserted in insertion passages formed in guides. Then, the scheduled diameter-enlarging portions are simultaneously pressed with punches to fill the material of the scheduled diameter-enlarging portions in corresponding forming dented portion while moving each guide in a direction opposite to a moving direction of each punch, thereby enlarging each scheduled diameter-enlarging portion.

  • Patent number: 7661281
Abstract: Methods and an apparatus for bending orthodontic wires are provided. An apparatus for bending an orthodontic wire can determine an optimal shape of a portion of an archwire to include a pair of nominal bends, apply an actual bend to the archwire at a location coinciding with the location of one of the pair of nominal bends, measure the actual bend applied, compare the actual bend to the nominal bend to determine an amount of deviation from that desired, determine corrective movements to substantially eliminate the deviation, iteratively reexecute such steps until the deviation is within a predefined tolerance, and recalculate a value of the other of the pair of nominal bends to compensate for any remaining deviation.

  • Patent number: 7661285
Abstract: A drawing machine includes a plate unit, a clamping device, a transmit member, a driving device and a cam. The transmit member includes a following roller. The driving device includes a main linkage inserted through the plate unit and having first and second ends. The cam includes first and second cam paths, with the first cam path disposed between two sides of the second cam path. When the cam is in a first position, the distances between the first cam path and two sides of the second cam path are different. When the cam is in a second position, the distances between the first cam path and two sides of the second cam path are equal. The following roller drives the main linkage to pivot, with the clamping device driven to clamp a rod or pipe. The plate unit is driven by the second cam path and reciprocates along the cam axially.
