  • Patent number: 4633725
Abstract: A transmission range selection mechanism for use with a vehicle transmission assembly having a main gear box and an auxiliary, two-speed gear box provides control over both with a single shift lever moved through a conventional shift pattern. The shift lever is pivotally mounted to a transversely disposed shift rail which is translatable between a first and a second position. A two-position sensor is coupled to the shift rail such that one output state is generated when the shift rail is in the first position and the second output state is generated in the second position. The two-position sensor controls selection of the two gear ranges provided by the auxiliary gear box. Three main shift rails are disposed in a conventional, parallel array at right angles to the auxiliary shift rail and include three shift yokes. The outer two shift yokes include spring-biased pins disposed within shift lever receiving slots.

  • Patent number: 4587866
Abstract: A planetary gear transmission having the capability of accepting input power from two separate, counter-rotating shafts, and combining the input power with application to a single output shaft. The two input shafts are coaxial and each is coupled to its own input sun gear. The output shaft extends from the side of the transmission opposite to the input shafts and is coaxial therewith. Various series of planetary gears mounted on a planet carrier provide the coupling between the input and output sun gears. There is no ring gear, and the carrier is not independently driven. The planetary gear transmission is combined with a continuously variable transmission and a direct drive coupled in split power paths from a single drive shaft to provide constant speed output over a range of 2:1 variation in speed of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4573371
Abstract: An automobile auxiliary power transmission having a synchronizer mechanism comprised of a synchronizer hub, a pair of synchronizer rings cooperating respectively with a low speed and high speed gears, and an axially movable synchronizer sleeve. The synchronizer sleeve has spline teeth for engagement with the synchronizer hub and with the synchronizer rings and the gears. The spline tooth on the sleeve has an axial length which is sufficient to engage with both of the synchronizer rings when it is disengaged from both of the gears. The arrangement is effective to make the shifting stroke of the sleeve smaller than that in conventional structures.

  • Patent number: 4557159
Abstract: A driving mechanism for slat curtains, the slats of which can be displaced in a direction transverse to their longitudinal axis and rotated about the longitudinal axis of the slats, comprising a gearing having one drive end and two power take-offs of different torques for connection to a transport rod (7) effecting the longitudinal displacement of the slats and a tilt rod (6) effecting their rotary movement, the rotary movement of the power take-off coacting with the tilt rod being limited by stops arranged on coaxial parts rotatably seated for being driven by the power take-off associated with the tilt rod, coacting stops being arranged along the same circular paths, is characterized in that the rotatably seated parts take the form of at least two disks (30, 32) of substantially identical diameter arranged in parallel to each other and that the one outermost disk is coupled to the power take-off associated with the tilt rod (6), that the rotary movement of the other outermost disk (32) is limited by a stop w

  • Patent number: 4549443
Abstract: A power transmission utilizing only eleven gears and four shafts to obtain six forward speeds, three reverse speeds, and an 19-inch drop from input to output shafts. Optionally, there may be provided an inbuilt power-take-off and brake uniquely located with an 8-inch drop from the input shaft. A power transmission further expanded to obtain twelve forward speeds and six reverse speeds with addition of (1) a low-range planetary system, and (2) a direct clutch, each connectable between a journalled output gear to the output shaft.

  • Patent number: 4545263
Abstract: Gearbox comprising a first clutch-hub having gear-teeth and a coaxial hollow wheel also with gear-teeth, connected to, but not rotating upon, a second clutch hub, and also having a planetary gear in part engagement with the gear-teeth and an adjustable transmission-shaft. The latter is adapted to be adjusted, by means of an adjusting device, in such a manner that the clutch-hub and the hollow wheel rotate selectively, either at rotational speeds between which there is a predetermined difference, or in synchronism. In a known gearbox of this kind, the planetary gear is arranged eccentrically upon the transmission-shaft, causing relatively considerable imbalance and relatively high bearing loads at high rotational speeds. In order to overcome this problem, and to achieve a simple design, especially of the transmission shaft, the invention proposes that the first clutch-hub comprise a radially spaced, internally toothed ring, creating an annular space.

  • Patent number: 4513635
Abstract: A differential gear for automotive vehicles comprising a washer interposed between the backs of pinions and the inner surface of a differential casing and fitted to a pinion shaft. The washer has at most a thickness of l tan.alpha. wherein l represents a displacement from an uncompressed condition of a spring washer to a compressed condition thereof exhibiting a predetermined pressure against the side gears. With this arrangement, the pinions may be installed into the differential casing without applying any pressure through the spring washers to the side gears, and after installation of the pinions into the differential casing, pressure between the meshed gear teeth of the side gears and the pinions may be desirably determined.

  • Patent number: 4404867
Abstract: A drive transmission gear unit is constructed to make possible adjustments in the relative spacial relationship between the unit gear wheels and a load shaft. The adjustment in the relative relationship between the unit and the load shaft may be carried out without varying the engagement relationships of the rotary elements within the unit. A centering arrangement is provided in the unit whereby the gear housing portion is rotatable about a driven shaft, thus enabling the gear unit to adjust for slack developing in any belt or chain tension means used to transmit rotary motion to a load shaft.
