  • Patent number: 9238158
Abstract: A stair climber apparatus has a frame and a plurality of stairs that are pivotably connected together in series and travel in a loop with respect to the frame. The plurality of stairs comprises a first stair having a tread and a riser. The tread and riser are pivotably connected together at a first pivot axis. The tread has a tread surface that supports an operator's foot. A stopping member is on the tread. The stopping member has a stop surface that extends transversely to and upwardly from the tread surface and prevents the operator's foot from overshooting the first pivot axis and engaging the riser as the operator steps onto the tread surface when the riser is pivoted away from the tread.

  • Patent number: 9216317
Abstract: Stair climber apparatuses have a frame having an inclined support that extends from a bottom portion to a top portion; a plurality of stairs that are connected together in series and travel in a loop around the inclined support; an electric motor; and a control circuit that controls a speed of the electric motor and an output direction of the electric motor. The electric motor is operatively connected to the plurality of stairs so as to move the plurality of stairs in an upward direction along the inclined support and so as to alternatively move the plurality of stairs in an opposite, downward direction along the inclined support. An operator input device at the bottom portion of the inclined support inputs a boarding command to the control circuit. Based on the boarding command, the control circuit controls the electric motor so as to move the plurality of stairs along the inclined support. Methods are for operating the stair climber apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 9205296
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a pneumatic sock exercise device utilizing pneumatic resistance transmitted to a user by a pneumatic sock capable of slidable movement within a pneumatic conduit or a pneumatic conduit structure configured to be removably interfaced with a source of airflow. The pneumatic conduit may include hollow cylinders, pipes, tubes, hoses, or ducts. The pneumatic sock is a tubular structure made of a flexible material that includes various aspects and features. When an embodiment is interfaced with the source of airflow, the pneumatic sock enables airflow within the pneumatic conduit or pneumatic conduit structure to oppose the user and his/her movement of the sock in either direction (with or against airflow) during exercise. Some embodiments may include an extension means and/or an anti-friction means to extend the range of movement of the pneumatic sock. The same or other embodiments may include a housing including a pneumatic conduit structure.

  • Patent number: 9205301
Abstract: A platform assembly includes a lower box, which is supported at the corners on inflatable feet, and a platform which is tiltable relative to the lower box by a lifter mechanism inside the box. The platform assembly is universally usable to support exercise equipment, in particular exercise bicycles such as spinning cycles. A complete studio may be outfitted by supporting each of a multitude of exercise cycles on a universal platform. A screen display in front of the cycles plays a moving picture of a trip, which is emulated by the participants in the exercise and workout routine. The platform is raised and lowered, as well as tilted, in synchronicity with the display. On raising the front of the platform, which represents an incline in the travel path, the resistance of the bicycle is increased.

  • Patent number: 9199115
Abstract: Described herein are embodiments of stationary exercise machines having reciprocating foot and/or hand members, such as foot pedals that move in a closed loop path. Some embodiments can include reciprocating foot pedals that cause a user's feet to move along a closed loop path that is substantially inclined, such that the foot motion simulates a climbing motion more than a flat walking or running motion. Some embodiments can further include reciprocating handles that are configured to move in coordination with the foot via a linkage to a crank wheel also coupled to the foot pedals. Variable resistance can be provided via a rotating air-resistance based mechanism, via a magnetism based mechanism, and/or via other mechanisms, one or more of which can be rapidly adjustable while the user is using the machine.
