    Abstract: Systems and methods to determine the location information of an emergency call made from a radiotelephone. The system employs multiple radio direction finding (RDF) devices, which is capable of determining the angle of arrival of a radio signal. The MSC sends a request along with radio information to a location processor, which controls RDF devices. The location processor sets up each RDF device to track the radio signal. If at least two RDF devices are successful in tracking the radio signals and returning information about the radio signal, then the location processor can determine the location of the radiotelephone by using a triangulation method.

    Abstract: A method for replenishing a pre-paid telecommunications account utilizes the short message service (SMS). When an account balance is low, a pre-paid service control point (PP-SCP) sends a message to a pre-paid payment server which composes an SMS message and sends it to a short message service center (SMSC). The SMSC forwards the message to a mobile switching center (MSC) which passes the message to the subscriber's mobile unit. A confirmation message is automatically sent in a similar manner back to the pre-paid payment server. To replenish the account, the subscriber composes an SMS message using the mobile unit and sends the message to an MSC which forwards it to the pre-paid payment server via an SMSC. The pre-paid payment server validates the request via a billing and finance system, then sends a message to the PP-SCP for account update.

    Abstract: A mobile telephone system providing general packet radio service (GPRS) includes a radio network controller (RNC) (2A) and/or a base station controller (BSC) and an associated serving GPRS support node (10A) for each domain. The RNCs (2A) and the SGSNs (10A) are interconnected by an Internet protocol (IP) network. When a mobile telephone (6A) moves from one domain to another, the RNC, in the new domain, takes over handling the mobile telephone. The current SGSN (10A) has a detector (20) which detects whether the existing transmission is a real-time transmission and, if it is, a diverter (22) comes into operation to couple the RNC in the new domain to the current SGSN (10A) rather than its associated SGSN (10A). When the call ends, the current SGSN (10A) hands-over the call to the SGSN (10A) in the new domain. This procedure ensures minimal interruption to real-time services by keeping the call anchored to the current SGSN (10A).

A reception processing section 11 performs predetermined reception processing including demodulation processing for the signal for measurement, and outputs the demodulated signal. A low frequency analyzer 6 measures characteristics of the demodulated signal outputted from the reception processing section 11, and outputs the result of measurement to the CPU 13. The CPU 13 displays the result of measurement on an LCD 12, and adjusts the characteristics of the reception processing section 11.

The mobility support element (MSC/VLR; SGSN, GGSN) receives, when it begins to serve the mobile station, a list (LSA1, LSA2) of the special cells for the mobile station, and sends the list to the serving radio control element (BSC1, BSC2). The mobility support element also supports or performs classification of the detail items into two classes depending on whether or not the corresponding event occurred while the mobile station was in a special cell.

    Abstract: A method and system for monitoring wireless network conditions. Two mobile stations are coupled with a computer. The first mobile station interacts with the network and thereby establishes diagnostic data concerning network conditions. The first mobile station then reports that diagnostic data to the computer. As the computer receives the diagnostic data from the first mobile station, the computer obtains location data indicative of the current location of the first mobile station. The computer then provides the diagnostic data and corresponding location data to the second mobile station, which in turn transmits the data to a remote entity via the wireless communications network. As the remote entity receives the data, the remote entity may generate output reports and alerts as desired.

In operation, this echo plug receives a signal from the speaker connection of the hands-free jack and transfers the signal to the microphone connection of the hands-free jack. Another echo plug has two pins and a circuit. The pins are physically compatible with the hands-free jack of a wireless telephone. The first pin has a speaker connection, and the second pin has a microphone connection. The circuit couples the speaker connection of the first pin to the microphone connection of the second pin.

In another example embodiment, the first and second RAN nodes correspond to a radio network controller and radio base station, respectively. The rate control request is made based upon a congestion or load condition being monitored by the second RAN node. When the load condition is detected, the second RAN node requests the first RAN node to lower the transmission rate of information. Conversely, when the load condition is relieved, the second RAN node can request that the first RAN node increase the transmission rate of information.
