  • Patent number: 4241803
Abstract: A wheel support (outrigger) for a rolling and stepping vehicle, especially a crane, excavator or like agricultural, industrial or construction machine in which a leg carries a wheel and is, in turn, connected by a parallelogrammatic linkage to a knuckle which articulates the parallelogrammatic linkage to the vehicle chassis. A further knuckle is provided between the wheel or its leg and the parallelogrammatic linkage. The wheel-carrying outrigger is swingable in a vertical plane while the first knuckle is provided with a vertical pivot axis on the chassis. The outrigger is also provided with an actuating device, preferably a fluid-powered cylinder, which swings the outrigger.

  • Patent number: 4240772
Abstract: Grain to be conveyed is supplied to an elongated chamber having a ram movable longitudinally through the chamber. A discharge opening at the end of the chamber communicates with a grain delivery tube which extends into a grain storage bin. As the ram is moved through the chamber, grain is forced outwardly through the discharge opening, through the grain delivery tube and into the bin. A discharge end portion of the tube within the bin is provided with vertically spaced openings for discharging grain at a vertical position close to the level of grain within the bin. Radially and downwardly directed spouts over the vertically spaced openings prevent the backflow of grain through the delivery tube.

  • Patent number: 4239443
Abstract: A stable hoist for loading and unloading articles (10) onto and from shelves (11) includes a base housing (12) from which extends a cruciform-shaped standard (13). A slide arrangement (14) mounted on the standard and driven by a power source (46 and 47) mounted in the housing moves a boom (16) up and down. The boom comprises a slide (20) and a trolley (21) from which depends a clamp (22) to grip the article. Inverted L-shaped arm structures (28 and 29) extend from the crossarms (26 and 27) of the cruciform-shaped standard (13). Stabilizing plates (48 and 49) are pivotally mounted in arm sections (33 and 34) to engage the shelf during a loading or unloading operation. The weight of components mounted in the base housing (12) and on the cruciform-shaped standard (13) act to counterbalance the tilting force during a loading and unloading operation.

  • Patent number: 4235308
Abstract: The front and rear sections of the vehicle are normally free to rock relative to one another about a fore-and-aft extending, horizontal axis to the extent necessary to compensate for lateral variations in ground contour between the front and rear of the vehicle. However, when a lift on the front of the vehicle is operated and it reaches a predetermined height, a fluid-pressure circuit is activated to frictionally engage a pair of brake parts on the two sections of the vehicle so as to hold the same against free rocking, thereby making the combined masses of the two sections available to counterbalance any tendency of the lifted load to tip the vehicle over sideways as the load is raised.

  • Patent number: 4234029
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire having a single layer radial carcass of steel or a material of similarly high strength. The carcass is anchored by being looped around the bead cores in the beads. The laterally outwardly lying free ends of the carcass layer may extend up to about half the height of the tire side walls. Laterally outwardly, next to the looped around carcass end, between the rim flange and this carcass end, there is provided a bead reinforcer which includes pull-resistant threads or the like which are parallel to one another. The bead reinforcer is slanted with regard to the carcass, preferably extending at an angle of about 15.degree. to 45.degree. to the circumferential direction of the tire. The radially outwardly lying free end of the bead reinforcer has associated therewith a strip which extends parallel to said free end and includes pull-resistant threads or the like which are arranged in a cord layer.

  • Patent number: 4232910
Abstract: Brake control systems and methods particularly suited for small trailers and the like wherein the angular velocity of each wheel in a selected pair of wheels is sensed and compared against each other to develop a control signal representing the differential in angular velocity between the respective paired wheels. In a skid control embodiment, while the brakes are being applied by the operator, the system automatically releases the brakes at both wheels in proportion to a velocity differential between the wheels indicating an impending skid. In the case of a trailer equipped with a sway control embodiment, the system automatically applies the brakes at both wheels in proportion to the wheel velocity differential representing excessive trailer sway. The respective skid control and sway control embodiments are useful alone or in a combined system.

  • Patent number: 4232990
Abstract: This invention relates to a winch-actuated extendable tongue for boat trailers and the like that is characterized by the winch being so located and reaved with respect to a pair of telescoping elements that it is effective to positively drive the tongue into extended as well as retracted position regardless of whether the load thereon is such as to extend or retract same. More specifically, the winch is mounted on the outer of the two telescoping elements for movement therewith and its cable is reaved from an initial point of attachment on the inner of said telescoping elements, around the winch drum several turns, over a pulley on the end of the outer element remote from the initial point of attachment, back again toward the latter to a second pulley on the adjacent end of the outer element, around the second pulley and toward the remote end of the outer element again to a second point of attachment on the inner element.
