  • Patent number: 11145235
Abstract: An electro-optic display having a plurality of pixels is driven from a first image to a second image using a first drive scheme, and then from the second image to a third image using a second drive scheme different from the first drive scheme and having at least one impulse differential gray level having an impulse potential different from the corresponding gray level in the first drive scheme. Each pixel which is in an impulse differential gray level in the second image is driven from the second image to the third image using a modified version of the second drive scheme which reduces its impulse differential The subsequent transition from the third image to a fourth image is also conducted using the modified second drive scheme but after a limited number of transitions using the modified second drive scheme, all subsequent transitions are conducted using the unmodified second drive scheme.

  • Patent number: 11137834
Abstract: A system for inputting operation system (OS) commands to a data processing device. The system comprises a video camera that captures images of a viewing space. A processor detects a predetermined object in the images using an object recognition algorithm not involving background information in an image. One or more image analysis parameters of the object are extracted from the images and one or more motion detection tests are applied. Each motion detection test has an associated OS command, and when a test succeeds, the OS command associated with the test is executed. By not relying on background information in an image, the system of the invention may be used in devices that are moved in use, such as a palm plot, personal digital assistant (PDA), a mobile telephone, a digital camera, and a mobile game machine.

  • Patent number: 11137894
Abstract: A foldable computing device with multiple display regions repositions UI components of an application. A repositioned UI component may be easier to access, discover, and manipulate. In some configurations, a UI component is repositioned to be closer to the thumbs of a user holding the device. In other configurations, a UI component is repositioned to avoid inter-region gestures. In other configurations, a UI component is repositioned to a location that is less likely to move or shift the device by the physical force of touching the component. A content optimization engine may determine whether to reposition a UI component based on a number of factors, including a posture of the device, a size of the component, a complexity of user interaction needed to use the component, how often the component is used, etc.
