Patent number: 7131404Abstract: A combustion-type power tool having a cooling arrangement for cooling a gas canister. The tool includes a housing having a gas canister accommodating section in which a gas canister is accommodated. An air passage is defined between the gas canister accommodating section and the gas canister accommodated therein. The gas canister accommodating section is formed with an air inlet port in communication with the air passage for introducing air into the air passage. Since air flows along the gas canister, the gas canister can be cooled. If the tool is provided with a fan, the rotation of the fan causes air suction passing through the air passage.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2005Date of Patent: November 7, 2006Assignee: Hitachi Koki Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomomasa Nishikawa, Yoshitaka Akiba, Shoichi Hirai, Haruhisa Fujisawa

Patent number: 6726047Abstract: A resilient vacuum relief valve 52 is urged tightly on the lid stem 44 engaging the lid bottom 42 while encircling the vent 46 preventing air passage through the vent 46. The vacuum relief valve 52 is also formed of a pliable, resilient thermoplastic such as silicon and is in an inverted hat shape or dish shape as shown in FIGS. 8 and 9 and includes a circumferential outwardly extending rim 54 on top that has sufficient resilience to deform when exposed to negative pressure. This arrangement provides an air tight seal when the lid 38 is inserted into the canister body 22 and while it remains stationary, however, when the lid 38 is pulled upwardly, negative pressure within the canister 20 is created, forcing the valve 52 to break its seal and relieve the newly created vacuum within the canister 20 allowing it to be easier to dislodge the lid 38 and preventing dispersal of powdered contents out of the canister 20 during lid removal.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2002Date of Patent: April 27, 2004Inventor: Shin-Shuoh Lin

Patent number: 6609642Abstract: A pack comprising a pack body, straps, a sleeve attached to the body, and a lumbar sacral support contained in the sleeve and supporting at least a portion of a weight of the pack when secured about a torso of a user and tightened. A frame can be attached to the body having frame members with lower portions and a band around the lower portions. The sleeve can be attached to the band by a pivot pin. The lumbar sacral support can comprise a pair of support body segments, each having an inner end portion and a front end with the front ends detachably connectable to each other; and a mechanical advantage device bridging together the inner end portions to form a belt. The mechanical advantage device include a cable rove around two banks of pulleys which are attached to the front end portions of the support body segments.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2001Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: Bio Cybernetics InternationalInventors: Thomas J. Patent number: 6467662Abstract: An article loading roller mechanism is disclosed. The loading roller permits one person to load or unload heavy articles such as ladders, pipes, lumber, canoes or kayaks. The roller is arranged in a fixed position so that the top of the roller is slightly below the top of the rear cross bar of the vehicle rack. The roller can be removably attached to a rear cross bar of a vehicle rack system by a clamping mechanism. The roller may be covered in part by a pliable scratch-resistant material. An article is loaded by placing a first end of the article onto the roller. The second end of the article is lifted, maintained at an angle such that the article does not touch the vehicle rack nor the vehicle, and is pushed toward the front cross bar of the vehicle rack. The roller reduces the loading friction and facilitates loading with a minimum of effort and time. When an article is in place on the vehicle rack front and rear cross bars, additional articles can be loaded in the same manner.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2002Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Inventor: Fernand LaRochelle

Patent number: 6179183Abstract: A pet carrier for use with bicycles particularly configured to allow installation at a forward position of a bicycle is presented. The particular configuration of the bottom surface of the pet carrier allows the carrier to be mounted in a forward position on a bicycle without interfering in the steering, braking, or gear shifting operations of the handlebars. Specifically, the pet carrier provides a plateaued or two-tiered surface that positions the carrier up and over the handlebars without interfering therewith. A lower bottom surface accommodates a pet's hindquarters, while the upper tiered surface accommodates the pet's forequarters. These two-tiered surfaces are separated by a sloped surface onto which the pet may rest during a bicycle ride. The carrier advantageously includes ventilation apertures or forward facing louvers to provide additional comfort to the pet.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1999Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Inventor: John M.
