  • Patent number: 6715421
Abstract: Metal-based printing members suitable for transfer-type imaging include a metal substrate and a hydrophilic, polymeric coating thereover. Desirably, the polymeric coating is crosslinked and withstands repeated application of fountain solution during printing. The polymeric coating can, however, undergo degradation where exposed to fountain solution so long as the ink-receptive portions—the areas where oleophilic material has been transferred onto the hydrophilic coating—remain intact.

  • Patent number: 6714231
Abstract: An image forming apparatus for forming an image by modulating laser light in correspondence with an image signal. A pulsewidth modulation signal is generated in correspondence with input image data. A laser drive control circuit has a photosensor PD which detects laser light emitted from a laser diode LD and generates a detection current, a resistor which generates a detection voltage corresponding to the detection current outputted from the photosensor PD, a buffer in which the generated detection voltage is inputted, an amplifier which amplifies an output from the buffer, and a constant current source and a switch to add a predetermined current to the detection current for compensation for reduction of output voltage due to offset voltages of the buffer and the amplifier. Control data for controlling maximum and minimum pulsewidths in the pulsewidth modulation signal are obtained based on the detection voltage, and generation of the pulsewidth modulation signal is controlled.

  • Patent number: 6712001
Abstract: The interval or spacing between rotational axes of adjacent cylinders in a rotary printing press, between a print-on position and a print-off position is accomplished using eccentric bushings for the cylinder journals of at least one of the cylinders. A printing gap between the two cylinders can also be varied using separate eccentric bushings. The effective eccentricity of the bushings extends parallel to a line connecting the axes of rotation of the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 6712534
Abstract: An ergonomic computer keyboard which integrates conventional keyboard features to form a Multi-Dexterous Keyboard (MDK) system designed to minimize Repetitive Stress Injuries. Specific emphasis is placed on the general and simultaneous utilization by either a single or dual handed, full or limited dexterity, and right and left oriented keyboard user. The ergonomic computer keyboard system is described as a solid and/or split contoured keyboard with centralized composite keys disposed thereon to reduce finger reach within one-hand span. Language characteristics are statistically extrapolated and arranged based on the most used letters or groups of letters in the form of digraphs (coupled letters) and trigraphs (tripled letters, etc.) for efficient utilization of the keyboard via either a dual or single handed user. A special partition of the keyboard provides numerous ergonomic arrangements with simultaneous use as either a Left-Hand-Side (LHS) or Right-Hand-Side computer keyboard module.

  • Patent number: 6709176
Abstract: A schedule view is displayed in a print server. In the schedule view, print-jobs are displayed with rectangular shapes having lengths corresponding to printing time and color (or pattern) corresponding to its state, and the print-jobs are arranged and displayed in the order of prints to which the print-jobs are allocated. It is possible to intuitively grasp relative magnitude of a load of each printer by the length of a job graph, and an absolute amount of the load of each printer converted into a printing time by a displayed time scale. In addition to this, details of a job which is being processed, details of a selected job, and a state of each printer are also displayed.

  • Patent number: 6708616
Abstract: In order to achieve a good printed result, it is important that the rollers that interact with each other are arranged at a suitable distance from each other, so that they act on each other with the pressure as stipulated. In order to set the rollers, use is made of a stripe, in particular an ink stripe, which results from contact between the rollers in the rest state. After the transfer, i.e., the formation of the strip, the relevant roller must be rotated into a position wherein the printing machine operator can have access to the ink stripe. As a result of the safety devices provided in printing units, it is generally not possible to detect, however, when the ink stripe on the roller appears in the suitable position. The invention provides a remedy here, in that it is proposed to rotate the roller into the viewable position at a suitable speed, or, by using a special program, taking into account a predefined rotational angle, to move the rollers automatically into the viewable positions.

  • Patent number: 6705224
Abstract: In a stamp apparatus, a paper-sheet object is conveyed in the arrow direction between a presser roller and an impress hub having a predetermined character/symbol string. Since a cam is rotated in the arrow direction by a rotary solenoid, it makes the presser roller approach the impress hub via a roller and an arm. A separating lever is rotated in the arrow direction by a rotary solenoid from an initial position (position shown in the drawing) to a siding position. When the paper-sheet object is conveyed to between the presser roller and the impress hub, a stamp bonded on the bottom surface of the paper-sheet object is canceled with a postmark. A presser mechanism suppresses a rebound produced when the presser roller starts to urge the paper-sheet object, and also maintains a predetermined urging pressure of the presser roller relative to the paper-sheet object having a predetermined thickness or less.

  • Patent number: 6705783
Abstract: A rugged keyboard and cursor positioning device with an inherent restiveness from external fluids to interior keyboard fluid contamination. The key interrupters and cursor positioning device block optical beams for key and cursor positioning detection thus eliminating contacts and contact actuation life. When a key is in the most depressed position the key cap is against the keyboard top surface protecting all internal parts from pressure, or force from harsh use or a vandals blow.

  • Patent number: 6705784
Abstract: There is provided a tape printing apparatus which is capable of positively discharging a cut-off tape strip of a tape material out of the apparatus by forcibly discharging the same, thereby preventing jamming and double cutting of the tape material. A full-cutting device for cutting a printed strip off the tape material is arranged at a location downstream of a printing section in a tape-feeding direction. A half-cutting device carries out half-cutting of the tape material. A tape discharge device forcibly discharges the cut-off tape strip out of the apparatus via a tape exit.

  • Patent number: 6702491
Abstract: A film transfer apparatus includes a mechanism which is adapted to prevent a reverse rotation of a take-up reel (8) for a tape. The mechanism is formed of a check claw (29) and reverse rotation preventing teeth (30). The check claw and one of the teeth are engaged with each other firmly and reliably. When the check claw should be broken or deformed to cause the function thereof to become incomplete, only the member provided with the check claw needs to be renewed easily by a simple operation. A check pin (23) inserted from the outer side of a cartridge unit (2) into a cylindrical retainer shaft (20) on which the take-up reel is rotatably mounted is combined in one body rotationally with the take-up reel. The check pin is engaged in a reverse rotation preventing manner in a tightly winding direction with respect to the cartridge unit.
