  • Patent number: 7754134
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection molding process that improves recovery limited productivity. The present invention advantageously applies pressurized fluid within the nozzle of an injection molding machine to improve the machine's productivity. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, an existing or new injection molding machine is outfitted with a pressurized fluid system at the nozzle between the plasticizer barrel and the melt manifold. The use of a specialized nozzle and isolation valve allows the pressurized fluid to displace material within the nozzle and runner, ensuring the proper pressure is applied to the plastic resin within the mold during pack and hold while the plasticizing screw can begin its recovery cycle. Finally, the pressurized fluid can be evacuated from the nozzle melt stream area either via the fluid entrance or a fluid pin.

  • Patent number: 7740789
Abstract: A method of making a cup that decreases the amount of flash on a bottom surface of the cup is provided. More specifically, a cup is provided that includes a thickened lip around an open surface. The lip also includes a recess for the receipt of excess material generated by the molding process. This excess material, or flashing, is detrimental to the use of cups in cup stacking competitions.

  • Patent number: 7713460
Abstract: A method of preparing a plastic-based composite profile comprised of a plastic mass containing a plurality of wood particles embedded in the plastic mass by bringing a plurality of dried wood particles and a thermoplastic polymer together with optional additives together to form a plastic-wood particle mixture, blending the plastic-wood particle mixture in blending means at a temperature sufficiently high to at least partially melt the thermoplastic polymer so as to be capable of uniformly blending with the wood particles to form a blended plastic-wood particle mass constituting an initial agglomerate; transforming the initial agglomerate into a profile preform by subjecting the agglomerate to the action of a double screw multi-zone extrusion means thereby shaping the profile preform into a profile by pushtrusion so that the agglomerate flows under pressure as a plastic plug flow in the extrusion means and through orientation and shaping stages to thereby obtain the composite profile.

  • Patent number: 7682543
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a weighted mounting platform, the method including: of a first injection moldable material, injection molding a substantially rigid body structure further comprising a substantially central hub with a plurality of legs projecting therefrom and an enlarged mass positioned adjacent to an end portion of at least two or more of the plurality of legs distal from the hub; of a second injection moldable material, injection molding a flexible skin covering at least a portion of the body structure between each enlarged mass and the central hub; and subsequent to the injection molding a flexible skin, freeing the enlarged mass positioned adjacent to an end portion of at least two or more of the plurality of legs for motion relative to the central hub.

  • Patent number: 7678324
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a hollow plastic product. The method includes the steps of forming a reinforce member in a desired shape having a defined welding surface formed with a first hole by injection molding; forming a hollow main body by blow molding using said reinforce member as an insert, thereby having said reinforce member integrally formed with said hollow main body and having a portion of said hollow main body extended into said first hole in the shape of a mesa when blow-molded; thermally welding a top end surface of a connector pipe to said welding surface and also to a top surface of said mesa shaped portion; and forming a second hole in said top surface of said mesa shaped portion to be aligned with said second hole, thereby forming a fluidic communication passage between an interior of said hollow main body and an interior of said connector pipe.

  • Patent number: 7625516
Abstract: A manufacturing method for a sheet molded body having a desired three dimensional shape and an excellent quality of the design, which has no crease, by uniformly expanding a decorated sheet prior to molding, and closely contacting the decorate sheet to the surface of a male die. In the manufacturing method, the pressure at the front side of the decorated sheet is lowered relative to that at the back side. An arm means is then moved towards the decorated sheet from the back side of the decorated sheet so that the decorated sheet is inverted by increasing the pressure at the front side relative to that at the back side. The decorated sheet is then three dimensionally formed along the surface of the male die by, while pressing the male die from the back side and moving the arm means backwards, increasing the pressure at the front side.
