  • Patent number: 7096032
Abstract: A method and communication system (e.g., a time-division duplex (TDD) system) that uses adaptive antennas at the base stations to monitor metrics associated with the quality of one or more common physical channel (CPCH) timeslots, so as to determine whether to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots to transmit a dedicated physical channel (DPCH). If it is determined to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots, an additional determination is made as to what limit to apply on the DPCH transmission powers. Adaptive antennas may be used at the base stations to allow the system to reuse some or all of the CPCH timeslots to transmit DPCH, thus improving the overall capacity of the system while maintaining the CPCH coverage and quality at a desired level throughout the system.

  • Patent number: 7085551
Abstract: An intelligent interface provides a non-dedicated wireless communications path for reporting alarm events from a landline-based alarm system to a remote monitoring system. The intelligent interface includes a cradle for a cellular handset or other wireless device, and a network connector (such as an RJ31X jack) between an alarm system control panel and the PSTN. When a wireless device is present in the cradle, the intelligent interface bypasses the landline and routes all security calls from the alarm system control panel through an analog-to-digital digital signal processor and to the wireless device, which places a call to the remote monitoring center. When no wireless device is present, the intelligent interface allows the alarm system control panel to seize the landline to place the security call.

  • Patent number: 7085564
Abstract: Under a multi-cell radio communication environment where connection between cells or TDMA frame synchronization is not established, a mobile station carries out an adjacent cell search under low power consumption. Adjacent cell information acquired through search by the mobile station is managed centered on a base station and may be provided by the base station as adjacent cell information, when the mobile station carries out the adjacent cell search. The adjacent cell information includes, for example, a TDMA frame offset between cells so that the mobile station receives a broadcast channel of the adjacent cell at appropriate timing based on the adjacent cell information and therefore does not need to perform unnecessary reception operation in the event of a handoff.

  • Patent number: 7082302
Abstract: An apparatus produces a combined data frame in DHO (Diversity Hand-Off) from data frames each having one or more payload sequences. Each payload sequence has associated with it one or more quality indicators. The quality indicators may be for example a CRCI (Cyclic Redundancy Code Indicator) for the payload sequence and a QE (Quality Estimate) of the data frame having the payload sequence. For corresponding payload sequences from each of the data frames a bit sequence is defined for each corresponding payload sequence with the quality indicators occupying one or more consecutive bits within the bit sequence. A processor selects, as a payload sequence for the combined data frame, one of the corresponding payload sequences on the basis of the bit sequences. The apparatus is implemented in software or in hardware.

  • Patent number: 7072678
Abstract: Methods and systems for triggerless mobile group dialing are disclosed. A method for triggerless mobile group dialing includes intercepting call signaling messages that contain mobile dialing codes. For these call signaling messages, a mobile dialing group ID is determined based on the calling party address in the mobile call signaling messages if the mobile call signaling messages contain calling party addresses. The mobile dialing group ID and the mobile dialing code are used together to determine a full called party address for each of the signaling messages. In lieu of using a mobile dialing group ID, a method is also presented for directly associating combinations of full E.164 calling party address digits and mobile dialing codes to full E.164 called party address digits. The full called party address is inserted in each of the signaling messages and each message is routed to its intended destination.

  • Patent number: 7069021
Abstract: A method is provided for determining the position of an electronic device by receiving a code modulated signal transmitted by satellites, and position information of the satellites and time data, and by generating local time data. In the method, delta range measurements are taken for at least four different satellites. For each of said at least four satellites, the velocity of the satellite is determined in relation to the positioning receiver. Furthermore, in the method, the delta range measurement results are replaced in an algorithm applying said delta range measurements and velocities to generate reference data for determining the local time data frequency error and the position. The local time data frequency error and the position are determined by searching for the minimum value of said reference data. A system and an electronic device applying the method are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7065346
Abstract: Management of network node configurations is designed under the assumption that there is only one operator. However, in future, several operators will be able to share the same network node. In this case, it is not desirable that the configuration of a network node is visible to and editable by all operators sharing the network node. The method, system and network node of the invention, wherein the network node configuration (K) comprises at least one common configuration part (Com) and at least one operator-specific configuration part (OC1, OC2, OC3) whose management right is restricted to only some of the operators sharing the network node, provide the network node with properties that all operators cannot edit.
